Chapter 17 - C17

Facing this cataclysmic attack, Levi finally offered a response that could, by the loosest definition, be considered proper. He sighed, an expression of extreme helplessness on his face, as if he had just encountered the most troublesome thing in the world. He didn't even have the desire to stand up. He merely raised a hand to pick at his ear with his pinky, which was itching from the noise, then mumbled in his characteristic lazy, deeply annoyed tone:

"...Endless..."

"...Things falling from the sky... are the most annoying..."

"...Everyone... just be quiet..."

"...So sleepy..."

**Declaration of the Lazy Person - Wide-Area Negation!**

An invisible force of rules, centered on him, expanded like an absolutely "lazy" bubble, moving gently but irresistibly towards the destructive lava meteors.

What happened next was not a miracle, but something far more absurd. All the giant lava fists falling from the sky, upon entering a certain range above Levi, had their downward momentum gently cradled by an invisible force. Then... they all... became "too lazy" to fall.

Their kinetic energy was inexplicably drained again. The lava rapidly cooled and blackened, turning into huge, silent black stones that floated in mid-air for a moment before drifting down like feathers. They accumulated around Levi with soft, harmless thuds, without raising a single speck of dust. In the blink of an eye, a "Meteor Volcano" that could have turned the training ground into a hellish inferno became a comical, harmless "black foam rain."

Levi even yawned, reaching out to brush off a bit of dust that had landed on his shoulder.

The entire training ground was dead silent. All the observing soldiers and instructors were petrified, their mouths agape, wide enough to fit an egg.

Akainu stood rooted to the spot, panting heavily, mostly from rage. He looked at the cold, silent volcanic rocks around him, then at Levi, who was still surrounded by stones and wore an expression of "so troublesome, so sleepy." His mind, for the first time, simply could not compute.

His power... his attacks... were so completely, so effortlessly... "negated"? This was not defense, not evasion; this was a higher-level, rule-based "invalidation."

What unsettled Akainu even more was that after two consecutive full-power attacks yielded no results, a strange, utterly unfamiliar emotion began to sprout within his steel-like will. It was a sense of powerlessness, a sense of futility. A feeling of... *What's the point of all this? I can't hit him, I can't win the argument, I might as well go deal with documents...* a sense of bother.

The moment this thought appeared, Akainu himself felt a surge of horror and anger. How could he, of all people, have such a weak thought? But the angrier he became, the more he tried to rally his fighting spirit, the clearer that "it's so troublesome" feeling became, like a persistent illness eroding his will to fight. He even felt that maintaining his lava-transformed arm was becoming a bit... tiring.

Just then, a furious roar came from the entrance of the training ground: "Sakazuki! Stop!"

Fleet Admiral Sengoku, his face ashen, strode quickly onto the field, surrounded by a group of officers, including Tsuru and Kizaru, who had rushed over after hearing the commotion.

Akainu snapped back to his senses, forcefully suppressing the absurd feeling of laziness. He pointed at Levi and shouted angrily at Sengoku, "Fleet Admiral! You saw it too! This bizarre ability! This lazy good-for-nothing! Keeping him in the Marines is simply..."

"Enough!" Sengoku sharply interrupted him. His gaze swept over the messy ground, the unharmed Levi, and Akainu, whose expression was constantly changing, even revealing a hint of fatigue. He understood everything. He walked up to Akainu and lowered his voice, his tone more serious than ever. "Sakazuki, I understand your dissatisfaction. But I told you, he is a strategic resource. His ability is not meant for direct combat with you! His value lies in resolving large-scale conflicts without bloodshed, in making our enemies lose their will to fight! Look at yourself now! Do you still look like the Marine Vice Admiral who upholds Absolute Justice?!"

Sengoku's words hit Akainu like a heavy hammer. He realized with a shock that he had indeed just had a thought of "I don't want to fight anymore."

"Brute force is useless against him," Vice Admiral Tsuru slowly stepped forward, calmly looking at Akainu. "His ability counters all 'initiative' and 'trouble.' The more you try to force him, the stronger the 'laziness' effect that rebounds on you."

Kizaru pouted nearby, slowly adding, "Oh dear, how scary~ Sakazuki~ You almost turned into 'Lazy Justice,' didn't you~ Pfft pfft~" He couldn't help but chuckle.

Akainu's face alternated between green and white. He clenched his fists tightly and finally squeezed out a sentence through gritted teeth: "...This ability is simply evil!"

After saying that, he glared fiercely at Levi (who was already dozing off again), then abruptly turned and strode out of the training ground. Each step cracked the ground, betraying his extreme inner turmoil.

Sengoku watched Akainu's retreating back, then looked at Levi, who was almost asleep, and let out a long, deep sigh. This was a headache like never before.

Kizaru walked over to Levi, lightly nudging a black stone on the ground with his toe, his tone full of admiration. "My, my... you're getting stronger and stronger~ Even Sakazuki's magma can be made 'too lazy' to burn~"

Levi mumbled in response, "...Mm... Next time... don't let him come... bothering my sleep... so troublesome..."

Tsuru gave Sengoku a helpless smile. "It seems we need to arrange some long-term assignments in the New World for Sakazuki."

Sengoku replied without hesitation, "...Agreed."

And so, the legend of "Lazy God Levi nullifying all of Vice Admiral Akainu's attacks, and even almost making the Vice Admiral himself lazy," spread throughout Marineford at an astonishing speed. No one dared to question Levi's reputation as a "monster" ever again. From then on, Akainu would try to avoid Levi whenever he saw him, not out of fear, but because he simply didn't want to experience that suffocating feeling of throwing a full-power punch into thin air, only to be infected with a wave of "laziness."

Levi's life, once again, finally returned to "peace."
