Chapter 139 - V3 Chapter 27: The Shape Of Souls

The corridors of Hogwarts are never silent, not truly.

Even when the torches gutter low and the portraits doze, you can hear it — that breathing hum in the stone.

The castle itself lives.

And as I walked those dim halls, thoughts crawling through my skull like silver serpents, I found myself wondering just how alive it really was.

Myrtle Warren.

Dead seventy years and still crying in her porcelain coffin.

I'd gone there for information, but she'd given me more than that.

A truth, accidental and unfiltered.

She'd seen the eyes.

Heard the language.

Died before she understood either.

And now… she lingered.

But why?

Ghosts were echoes — that much every child knew.

Imprints of souls that refused to pass on, bound by trauma or obsession.

But watching her, fluttering helplessly between misery and mischief, I couldn't help but think — what if the echo could be amplified?

What if the soul could be pulled back from that half-existence and anchored once more into flesh?

Voldemort had done similar in the og timeline using Horcrux's to allow his soul to live on without a body, and then using a dark magic ritual forcing the formation of a new body.

But is that the only way?

I stopped by an arched window, looking out at the black lake, the moonlight cutting a faint gleam over its surface.

The water moved sluggishly, like a sleeping giant's breath.

"Resurrection through alchemy," I murmured to the glass, watching my reflection smirk back. "Not impossible. Just… untested."

This was something that had never been successfully performed in this world, instead it was a concept taken from an anime of my previous life.

The creation of a human body was relatively simple, but in that anime it was the soul.

What could you offer up in Alchemy per Equivelent exchange that was worth the soul of another?

But if you didnt need the soul?

Then creating a homunculous was relatively simple, afterwhich you could then have the ghost inhabit the body that was created.

Bringing back the dead was indeed impossible, but if they were only in a state of undeath, the reversal was possible.

Though if it was possible to ressurect a ghost a number of things would be needed.

Mainly a medium from which the new body could be created from.

Similar to the dark magic ressurection ritual of Voldemort.

A dna imprint would be needed from the soul.

Theres the possibility a descendant would also work, but for the greatest chance of success, their own dna would be needed.

The possibility of ressurecting Lady Draconis, or even Lady Ravenclaw was unlikely seeing as how my lineage was greatly distanced from their own.

But for someone like Myrtle...

Her bones would still exist buried in the earth, with the possibility of extracting some dna from what remained of her bones and teeth within her casket.

Using that as a source the creation of her own Humonculous body was not all to far fetched.

Of course that assumed you were not discovered for grave robbing, on top of trying to locate the burial place of a girl from fifty years before.

The next issue would be, if a false body was produced would she retain her magic, or would the body be like that of a muggles?

Then could the experiments conducted on the muggle orphans be duplicated on this new false body to grant magical prowess thanks to a transfusion of magical blood to seep the cells and unlock their potential?

Cassius had wandered around for hours, constantly going over the details in his head, and even then he still wanted to try.

Myrtle was afterall a cute girl, and to bring her back to life would mean the resumption of her schooling, allowing her to join himself and the girls for their own third year as fellow classmates.

Though her... more agressive nature when it comes to boys would need to be dealt with since her lingering soul had gained experience just like my own transmigrated soul.

As a ghost she had not 'grown' in recent decades locked to time, but even still she had developed a bit of a randy habit.

Quite unlike her peers, should she rejoin them.

The poor british youths would be utterly unready to deal with a carnivore in their midst.

When Cassius returned to the common room he found it only a titch brighter than usual.

the girls had finally started to break free of the lingering fear, instead redoubling their efforts into their studies and dueling skills.

Seeing him walk in, Cho having been undefeated against the others cheekily challenged him to a duel.

Cassius however even as one year her junior quickly stopped the young witches growing ego.

Their fight lasted a few minutes with Cassius deflecting or dodging her incoming curses.

Only sending a few retalitory strikes of his own in response.

But once her attack patterns had been learnt he was utterly vicious, cutting off her retreat before delivering the final blow.

Cho was sent sailing back as the impact reached her chest.

Her wand falling from her hand in the process and spelling her defeat.

Once recovered, Cho simply admitted to having been defeated.

But her ego was not prepared to go down without fighting, quickly calling in aid from the girls alliance, as Hermione, Daphne, and even Astoria all joined her to stand opposite Cassius on the training field.

What came next was a 4-1 fight.

The girls had been training together for months now, well except Astoria who was newly joined, but even still their teamwork was impecable.

Cassius was left Dodging, ducking and weaving through a hailstorm of incoming fire.

But seeing the odds against him, Cassius decided to kick things up a knotch.

Drawing upon his second wand, he danced around the training field, dual wielding wands, as he deflected or even redirected spells with one, whilst firing off his own offensive spells with the other.

The battle which was against him, started to even out, allowing him to focus on the girls weakest link, to tip the scales even further in his favor.

The girls really wanted the win, but against Cassius who grew up trained by Grindelwald their slightly more than a year was simply playing catch up.

After five minutes Astoria was struck and taken out, which was the beginning of the end.

With their initial formation broken, the girls switched to an almost entirely defensive formation, but giving him the chance to switch from a 50:50 stance to a purely offensive one was their undoing.

Spell after spell was launched with desperate resistance being taken only for the girls to go down one by one, until only Cho remained still standing finally raising her hands in surrender at their defeat.
