The instant Sally's eyes flutter shut and her body goes slack against me, my world tilts off its axis.
Her weight falls entirely into my arms, head dropping back like a broken doll. My heart stops for one terrifying beat before thundering back to life.
"Sally!" Her name tears from my throat as I shake her softly. Her dark hair cascades over my forearm, and that ethereal glow beneath her skin pulses once before vanishing completely.
Sean materializes beside us, his hands trembling as he searches for her pulse. Ajax curses viciously somewhere behind me. Philip's wolf surfaces with a growl that rattles the windows, pure desperation bleeding through the sound.
Jackson's authoritative voice cuts through our collective panic. "Get her on the ground. Karl, the floor. Move."
