I should have walked away the instant I saw that familiar softness creep into his eyes.
Instead, I stayed frozen in place.
The moment his fingers found my skin again, when his thumb traced the outline of my lips and his breath warmed my face, every rational thought I possessed scattered like leaves in a storm.
I convinced myself this was all an act. That I was playing him, setting him up for the ultimate fall.
But when his mouth claimed mine, everything I thought I was doing dissolved into chaos. His lips, his hands, the heat radiating from his body suddenly made perfect sense to every fiber of my being.
It was like being pulled under by a riptide. Knowing the current would destroy me, yet being powerless to fight against its pull.
Because he was my tide.
