Chapter 115 - Death of the Green Goblin

Inside the skyscraper.

Several villains gathered. Prowler roughly threw the unconscious Green Goblin to the ground, then extended a hand to Bullseye and said:

"Payment first. I'm done with the rest!"

After a series of struggles, Prowler realized the gap between himself and the others.

He himself didn't possess superpowers. His technological equipment looked impressive, but in reality, it was just that. After witnessing Spider-Man's abilities today, he no longer wanted to be involved.

One million was already a lot.

His brother, who was a police officer, probably wouldn't earn a million dollars in his lifetime. Why should he risk his life for the remaining money?

Neither Bullseye nor Kingpin cared about Prowler's withdrawal.

To be honest, they didn't think much of this fighter without superpowers. Prowler's equipment was certainly a crushing advantage against ordinary people, but it was useless against the powerful Spider-Man.

Since he intended to leave, they would just pay him and be done with it. It also showed others Kingpin's character of keeping his word.

Moreover, now that the Green Goblin had been brought back, he would soon have four new superpowered individuals. If they could also get the technology for the Green Goblin Equipment from Stromm, that would mean four new Green Goblins!

With such immense power, why would they fear Spider-Man not complying?

"It's a shame someone decided to back out first," Bullseye sneered from behind his mask. Then, he turned his head to look at the others, which, in reality, meant only Kraven.

"He's lost an opportunity to meet the Underground Emperor, Kingpin."

With that, Bullseye bent down, grabbed one of Green Goblin's legs, and walked towards the elevator.

"Let's go."

Kraven followed.

He was also a little curious about the legendary Kingpin.

So, the two of them stood in the elevator. Bullseye took out a small device and pressed some buttons on the elevator's control panel. The elevator, which had been restricted, suddenly roared to life and began ascending.

Thump.

With a faint sound, the elevator finally reached the top floor.

The doors slowly parted, revealing a dark space to Kraven.

Darkness was nothing to Kraven, who possessed superpowers. He could clearly see the scene before him.

What met his eyes was a hall that resembled a palace, with towering pillars supporting a dome. A luxurious red carpet was laid out underfoot.

The carpet extended to the end of the hall.

There, a huge, gold-trimmed square table was placed. Behind the table, Kingpin, dressed in a white suit, sat on his throne.

An immense pressure emanated from the muscular man.

He seemed to control the entire underworld of New York City, like a monarch, looking down upon all evil and his subjects.

At this moment, Kraven realized that this man named Kingpin was also a worthy target for a hunt.

Of course, not as much as the prey named Spider-Man.

He retracted his claws, but his shoulders remained tense.

Just then, Kingpin stood up and stepped down from his chair. Bullseye threw the Green Goblin he was holding forward, as if discarding trash.

Kingpin didn't even glance at Green Goblin. A loser didn't warrant his attention. If it weren't for the serum, he wouldn't have bothered with Green Goblin at all.

As he walked over and passed Bullseye, he said softly, "Don't forget to take care of that useless lawyer."

Bullseye nodded.

Then, Kingpin turned his head to look at Kraven, "This is the first time we've met, Hunter?"

Before Kraven could speak, he added, "It's a pity Prowler left us. But don't worry, I know your goal is to hunt Spider-Man. But as you've seen, Spider-Man's strength is beyond our imagination."

"Previously, we underestimated Spider-Man, thinking he was nothing special. But now I know I was wrong. His superpowers are extraordinarily powerful."

Kingpin said.

His voice echoed in the hall alone: "But don't worry. Soon, we will have several new superpowered individuals. I don't think you'll mind hunting alongside others, will you?"

Kingpin stated that there was no time to mourn Prowler's departure. The next battlefield would be – four Green Goblins!

Kraven naturally didn't mind.

Pack hunting was a common phenomenon among beasts.

At this moment, Green Goblin let out a muffled groan. He gasped for air and slowly woke up, reaching up to press his head. His mind was still buzzing, replaying the scenes of being beaten by Spider-Man.

Fortunately, he soon realized that he had escaped the dangerous situation. Kingpin's meat-pile-like physique looked much more pleasing to his eyes.

"Kingpin, thank you for saving me!" he said with an evil grin. The serum he had been injected with clearly still had significant issues, making his emotions extremely erratic.

But Kingpin didn't give him a pleasant look. He extended his massive hand, grabbed Green Goblin by the neck, and lifted him up.

"Stromm, now, you can tell me the location of the serum."

Although Kingpin was not a superpowered individual, he had long trained his body to the extreme of human limits!

Beneath the suit, there was never useless fat, but well-built muscle!

"I will tell you, Kingpin."

With his throat squeezed by Kingpin, the Green Goblin's face turned red, and he begged for mercy intermittently.

To be honest, he hadn't planned on breaking his deal with Kingpin.

Not to mention that Kingpin had gained strength comparable to ordinary superhumans through his own training alone, but just considering Kingpin's power and influence, Stromm wouldn't dare go back on his word.

Even though this grand hall seemed empty with only a few people, Kingpin had likely laid numerous traps here.

Hearing this, Kingpin finally released the Green Goblin.

"The serum, cough, the serum's location is..."

The Green Goblin immediately knelt on the ground, gasping for air. Just as he was about to reveal the serum's location, Kingpin's ears perked up.

His heart skipped a beat. With four vials of serum, even if he had to give two to The Hand, he would still have two left.

At the very least, he could create two Green Goblins.

But his ambition didn't stop there.

Kingpin wanted to completely analyze the serum's composition, then mass-produce it to create his Superpower Army, and then rule New York City, and even the entire American underworld!

Now, he was just waiting for the Green Goblin to reveal the serum's location.

However, what he received was not an answer, but the Green Goblin's piercing scream!

"Ah!"

The madman convulsed violently as if struck by electricity, collapsing onto the ground.

The sudden turn of events startled even Kingpin, but just as he thought it was a trick by the Green Goblin, Bullseye spotted the spreading blue toxin glowing beneath the Green Goblin's skin.

"Don't go near him!"

He blocked Kingpin and then kicked the suffering Green Goblin away.

This torment didn't last long, as the Green Goblin soon lost all signs of life, his pupils vacant and gray, staring blankly at death.

The group fell silent for a moment, then Bullseye said:

"He's dead."

Kraven half-crouched down, tearing open the Green Goblin's clothes to reveal the neurotoxin that had spread throughout his body. At this moment, half of the Green Goblin's body was a strange, glowing blue. The toxin spread through his blood vessels like a vast net, eventually invading his heart.

Kraven pressed his fingers against the Green Goblin's corpse, then pulled a rather plain-looking hunting knife from his waist and cut open the Green Goblin's skin.

Soon, the knife revealed a small disc.

"It seems our other spider has venomous fangs."

He said with a smile.

Peter, he had already dealt with him. He didn't believe Peter would kill someone, so there was only one answer: the Hacker was the one who killed the Green Goblin.

"No wonder the Hacker never showed up. He never intended for the Green Goblin to live from the start."

Kingpin's face darkened.

Now, everything was gone.

The Green Goblin was dead, and the serum was gone. He had worked all day and gotten nothing.

More importantly, he, the great Kingpin, had been outmaneuvered by Hacker Spider-Man.

He couldn't swallow this insult!

"Hacker Spider-Man, I will make you pay!"

Kingpin clenched his fists tightly, gritting his teeth as he let out an enraged roar.

He swore that if Hacker Spider-Man ever fell into his hands, he would tear him to shreds!

But even as he said this, Kingpin knew he had another problem to deal with.

—The Hand.

Or rather, the payment promised to The Hand.

Previously, to eliminate Spider-Man, he had formed a partnership with Madame Gao, and the price was two vials of serum.

But now, The Hand had done their part, and the Green Goblin had been brought to him, yet the serum was nowhere to be found.

Kingpin wondered how he could explain to Madame Gao that the Hacker had killed the Green Goblin, instead of him killing the Green Goblin to keep the serum for himself and then fabricating this story.

Without convincing evidence, The Hand likely wouldn't accept his explanation. Even if they did, given Madame Gao's personality, she wouldn't let it go so easily.

If she didn't get the serum she wanted, she would probably want to take a piece out of Kingpin.

Thinking of this, his anger towards the Hacker who killed the Green Goblin intensified.

Meanwhile, Ben, whom he was thinking of, was happily heading to the cinema with Felicia.

"Two tickets for 'Superman: Man of Steel'." Felicia said, holding popcorn in one hand as she asked for the tickets.

Then she turned to Ben and asked a little shyly:

"I've never watched these movies before. Will I be lost? Do you think I should catch up on the previous ones first?"

Ben shook his head: "No need."

"They're going to be rebooted soon anyway."
