I brushed off the stares and whatever alliance Kane had formed with that guard. My single focus was getting through this party at Levi's side, then slipping away unnoticed.
I wasn't that breakable girl from before. After everything I'd survived, a few cutting remarks barely left a mark.
Kane studied my calm face and suddenly looked ridiculous, like an actor who'd lost his audience.
