"Jill, you screwed up," Webster said, his brow creased with disapproval. "Going to Sallie and running your mouth like that was out of line." Jill went rigid, caught between shock that he'd called her out and confusion about what exactly she'd done wrong.
Webster exhaled heavily. "Todd isn't worthy of Sallie. If she wasn't feuding with the family right now, that nobody wouldn't have gotten within ten feet of her. I'd never give them my blessing. You had no business interfering."
Despite his measured tone, accusation dripped from every word. Family drama or not, Sallie was still a Noah. Some pretty boy with zero pedigree had no business getting cozy with her.
Jill's world tilted. Not only was he blaming her, but his words made no sense. He used to despise Sallie, wanted her kicked out of the Noah family entirely.
