News about my promotion to vice president at Noah Group spread like wildfire through Stormhaven. Nearly everyone knew about it now. Whether they wished me well or hoped for my downfall, plenty of people were watching my every move on this project.
I was fully aware of the scrutiny, but rather than shrinking back, I made myself even more visible. I wanted all eyes on me.
Most people figured I was just green and desperate to prove myself, having jumped straight into the VP role. That's why I seemed so flashy to them.
Nobody thought I could handle such a massive project without Kevin's guidance. They were all sitting back, waiting for me to crash and burn.
When news broke that Jill had joined my project team, even more spectators gathered. Kevin kept tabs on me too, worried I might give Jill a hard time.
