Todd's POV
Every time I saw Sallie, I always wore the brightest, sunniest smile. This time was no exception. "Sallie..." I called out.
I hurried forward, my smile fading as I took in Sallie's disheveled appearance—pale face, swollen cheeks, messy hair, and torn clothes. She's been through hell, I thought, stopping abruptly.
Even after hearing everything over the phone, I didn't expect Sallie to look so battered. The Noahs really outdid themselves. They'll pay for this, I thought, a cold glint of murderous intent flashing in my eyes. Stormhaven's elite needed a shake-up.
Because we were standing so close, Sallie caught the emotion in my eyes and froze for a second.
I was always bright, sunny, cheerful, and sincere. My eyes, always so clear and innocent like a newborn's, had never shown that kind of emotion before.
Lost in thought, she was snapped out of it by the cool touch of my fingers on her swollen cheek. "Does it hurt?" I asked.
