Getting sick was the easy part—recovering was hell.
I'd been trapped indoors for days, and the second I felt halfway decent again, Todd practically hauled me outside for fresh air.
We'd barely made it past the front door when we ran straight into Kevin.
Todd's expression turned murderous, and I could tell he was now dead serious about us moving out.
Kevin didn't even glance at Todd—he marched straight up to me. "What—"
He'd stormed over looking ready for war, but the moment he saw how much weight I'd lost, he stopped cold, his voice going soft. "What happened to you?"
I didn't bother with an answer. Instead, I frowned and snapped back, "Do you need something, Mr. Noah?"
The ice in my tone made Kevin's face darken, and whatever concern he'd shown vanished instantly.
He cut straight to the point, shoving papers in my face. "Sign this."
I frowned, completely lost. I grabbed the papers and skimmed through them, then couldn't help but laugh bitterly.
