Right after leaving St. Chaim Reform Academy, I was a bundle of nerves. Every glance felt crushing, crowds made me freeze, and no matter what I did, I couldn't escape this constant edge of discomfort.
Friends and family had abandoned me, treating me like some kind of disgrace and laughingstock. Only Todd remained loyal, believing in me and helping me see that I wasn't the monster everyone claimed I was.
Suddenly, I realized my life wasn't the complete disaster I'd convinced myself it was.
In my darkest moments, I'd found a group at St. Chaim Reform Academy who'd risk everything for each other. When I'd hit absolute rock bottom, Todd had appeared.
And Levi and Johan had never abandoned me.
Maybe recognizing something of myself in Cloe, I softened my voice. "Relax. I just want to ask some questions."
