I closed my eyes, and I knew it would be the final time I could be ever considered alive.
Yet, no matter how much time had passed I still felt 'alive'...
Did I perhaps go into coma?
With that thought, I realized something was wrong with my own body. I felt no response from my own body, yet I could still 'feel' it. It was a weird experience, but there was one truth at the moment. I saw nothing but the black empty void.
Am I perhaps dead, and currently in hell?
I turned my head to look at my surrounding yet, I couldn't see anything else except for the darkness ever present, and I was slowly getting anxious, and panic was slowly setting in.
As if responding to my surrounding, I find the darkness surrounding me slowly recede and giving way for a world of white, and in that white plane, I came to realize I had no physical body and someone or rather something was slowly approaching like blub of golden light.
It showed no signs of stopping, and it continued approaching until it merged with my body and disappearing.
In its place, a sudden mechanical sound of something churning and turning appeared, with an emotionless voice following along.
[..."Character Resonance System integrating... Pleasewait..."]
"W-what?" Elena said.
I was surprised by the sudden appearance of transparent screen right in front of me, currently displaying a [Integration 94%---]
Taking the moment of silence as an opportunity, I took in everything that just happened and organized my thoughts.
Did she truly become one of those people? Though Elena hasn't really read many types of novels, she had heard about these from a few of her young patients with one who liked this type of novels always talking about it, ones with 'Golden Fingers'.
Just as Elena was about to question where or what her actual situation was, the mechanical voice sounded out again.
[..."Character Resonance System fully integrated to user 'Elena'..."]
"H-hello there." Elena softly greeted the voice, restraining the numerous question she had for a moment.
["Character Resonance System greets the user 'Elena' back"] the system responded to Elena in its own mechanical voice.
Currently sensing no ill will from the 'Character Resonance System', she finally decided to ask her questions, and hopefully get away from this empty white plane.
"C-character resonance system, what are you and where are we?" I asked.
Perhaps just calling it 'system' instead of calling its full name every time be more efficient.
["Character Resonance System is here to assist user 'Elena' achieve her dreams and create a gacha character loved by both the players and characters."] the system explained.
["When players get emotionally attachment or when they get more emotionally attached to your character, you earn Resonances Points."] the system added.
Thinking for a moment, I asked the system.
"S-system, what can I use Resonance Points for?"
["User can use Resonance Points for various of things, from purchasing or upgrading your character, update or add to your lore, make dedicated events, and use it to purchase items in the system store."] the system explained.
I asked the one question that's been bugging me, the moment I had heard the system's name.
"W-where am I going?" I asked looking at the system screen.
It was clear I was going to gacha game, yet I was genuinely curious as to which gacha game I would be going. I played a lot of gacha games, but only Honkai: Star Rail was the only game I consistently played and knew a lot about.
["User 'Elena' will be transmigrated to the Honkai: Star Rail Universe, after completing necessary steps and after completing character creation along with character lore and skills"] the system responded to Elena's question with its usual synthesized voice.
Honestly, there were still things about the whole situation that was confusing, but being given a second chance at life isn't something somebody would normally avoid or pass by.
["Is user ready to create her character?"] the system voiced out as numerous screens came out with each one displaying something different from the other.
One was about Character lore, another about Character Skill, and the next being character creation and more.
I set aside the unnecessary thoughts and focused my attention primarily on doing what was in front of me.
"Yes." I said to the system.
In respond the system brought the system screen closer, with the character name at the for front.
["Please decide on the name for your character, user."] the system said.
I stared at the floating screen for a moment... unsure of whether to use a new name or continue using my old one.
After thinking a bit, Elena decided against using a new name as she still wanted something to remember her old world and the things she achieved with the name 'Elena Nanase', yet to show that it was a new life without any more connection to the past and to remind herself that no one in this new world was connected to her, Elena decided against including her last name.
"I'll go with only 'Elena', system." I announced to the system.
The system screen with [Character Name:--] in front of her in responded with simple change in the screen now simply showing [Character Name: Elena]
After finishing the name, it disappeared and the system screen with the character creation came forward, showing the stereotypical character creation set up for modern games.
Looking through the settings and adjusting some basic settings for the character, one aspect of the character creation caught my eye, it was [Species] Section selection, and I looked through the species, I saw the one I really liked and had been my favorite species in the Honkai: Star Rail Universe.
They are known not only for their angelic and captivating presence that could stir even the coldest heart, but for the haunting beauty of their voices melodies that seem to echo through both body and soul.
Graced with halos that shimmer like stars and faint, winglike adornments behind their ears, their appearance alone evokes reverence. Wherever they walk, admiration follows; their every gesture radiates a quiet, divine poise that few can resist.
Behind their serene smiles lies a depth few can truly perceive a mixture of wisdom and mystery that veils their intentions. Yet, those who earn their trust may glimpse a more intimate truth: their halos hum softly with emotion, able to carry unspoken thoughts like ripples through the air.
They are beings who seem crafted for admiration luminous, graceful, and distant like songs sung by the cosmos itself.
It was Halovian, with the most well-known halovian in game being Robin.
I made myself a Halovian.
