Chapter 2 - The Crack In The Sky

The monster made a single move, then stopped. Slowly, it turned its head — unnaturally — as if sensing something behind it. All across the globe, people watched in awe and confusion. Then, a deafening crack shattered the silence.

The sound was unbearable. It pierced the ears of every human on Earth, lasting for two full minutes. When it finally stopped, all eyes turned toward the source — the sky.

The creature grew anxious. It took a massive step eastward. That single movement triggered chaos. Panic erupted. People scattered in every direction, fleeing from the path of the beast.

On the shores of the Philippines, Ed and Jest stood frozen, staring at the sky while the crowd around them screamed and ran. Despite it being night, a strange light glowed above — growing brighter by the second.

Then, another thunderous noise echoed from the light, shaking the planet. The billions of birds that had filled the sky vanished, revealing what lay behind the glow. And what humanity saw next etched pure terror into their souls.

A crack appeared in the sky.

From within it, a face emerged — hardened skin, fearless eyes, and fangs sharper than any blade known to man. It was a dragon.

Jest: Ed... I thought dragons were just myths...

His voice trembled, barely able to speak through the fear.

Ed didn't respond. He couldn't. His body was paralyzed, his mind overwhelmed. He couldn't move, couldn't speak — consumed by terror.

The people in Manila finally understood. The strange behavior of the ocean creature had been a warning. Something far more powerful had arrived — the apex predator of the food chain.

The dragon's head slowly retreated into the crack. Then, tiny black dots began to emerge from the gate. No — they weren't dots. They were creatures. As time passed, they grew larger, revealing their true form.

Jest: ED! IT'S THE PIXIES DRAGON — JUST LIKE IN THE GAME WE PLAYED!

Jest turned to run, but something was wrong. Ed was still frozen, crying, trembling. Jest had always seen Ed as strong — but this Ed was different.

Jest slapped him.

Jest: Snap out of it! We need to move!

Ed blinked, slowly regaining control. The fear began to fade. He nodded.

Ed: Let's go.

They ran.

The pixies dragons reached the shore, tearing through bodies paralyzed by fear. Ed and Jest sprinted toward their hiding spot — the strange box marked with a glowing "W."

The dragons were closing in. One was already at their backs, its claws brushing against their clothes.

Suddenly, a figure appeared at the gate — a man in full armor, wielding a railgun. Without hesitation, he fired. The blast struck the dragon behind them, slowing it down.

Ed and Jest didn't stop to check if it was dead. They kept running, reaching the gate of W.

When they finally turned around, Ed nearly vomited at the sight. The capital was in ruins. Buildings burned. The joyful faces of residents were now drenched in blood — missing heads, limbs, arms, legs.

Armored Man: Both of you — get inside. I'll handle this.

His voice was calm.

They nodded and entered. Inside, the armored man began to cry. His railgun hadn't killed the dragon — only slowed it.

Armored Man: Thanks for not noticing what the smoke from this gun really did...

His voice cracked with fear.

As the smoke cleared, the pixies dragon found its new target — him. He turned slowly, locking the door behind Ed and Jest. They turned back and saw him — crying, but smiling.

The gate closed.

A second later, a blood-curdling scream echoed through the building.

Jest didn't react. He believed worrying about others was pointless when survival was at stake. But Ed cried again.
