For a moment, just a moment, Amara wondered if she accidentally stepped into the wrong day of her life. Because one second ago she'd still been inside Darien's study, trying to look like she had even the faintest clue what "dragon mate lessons" might entail, and the next she was trailing behind him down a hallway so wide she could probably roller-skate in it and never hit a wall.
She followed him because what else could she do? This was her boss. Her… dragon boss. Her mate, technically. Her everything-is-complicated title holder.
He stopped in front of a pair of metallic doors that looked suspiciously like-
"…Is that an elevator?" she blurted before she could stop herself.
Darien glanced sideways at her, one brow raised like he found her reaction charming or ridiculous, hard to tell. "Yes."
Her eyes widened. "In a house?"
"It's a large house."
