Oliver tried to reach out further, tried to touch her back. He didn't even know why he did that.
He didn't understand why he ran toward her or why he was even still trying to reach her in the first place.
But even so, he continued, and his fingers almost crossed the space between them.
But then the city itself collapsed so fast it didn't give him a chance to understand. The entire place vanished and turned into fog instantly.
The woman's back began to ripple at first, the lines of her body trembled, then her color gradually dissolved until she turned into a faint gray mist.
She disappeared before his eyes, and at the same time the ground beneath Oliver's feet stopped existing as well.
He felt gravity pulling his body downward, and he fell into an endless void.
He felt as if he were slowly drowning in an ocean despite there being no water anywhere.
…
When Oliver opened his eyes, he felt as if he had risen from underwater.
