Chapter 7 - Chapter 5: I Won't Allow That

When he opened his eyes, it was already morning.

Jiang Si rubbed his eyes and raised the seed in his hand.

The sunlight filtered through the curtains, making the purple seed look crystal clear, like a gemstone.

Restraint in his satisfied emotions, Jiang Si got out of bed and looked at the homework on his desk.

Not finished yet. Generally speaking, he should go to school early to complete it.

High school homework is increasing, and if he does it all, it would cause considerable trouble for his path of cultivation.

He got up, packed his homework into his backpack, changed clothes, washed up, and went downstairs, where he saw his sister already having breakfast.

Simple scrambled eggs and some leftover steamed buns from last night.

"Keke, your teacher called yesterday and said your math grades have dropped."

While washing up, he reminded her, "Study hard."

Jiang Keke, Keke is her nickname. The parents planned to give her a formal name later, but an accident three years ago left them unable to name her, so Keke's nickname has been used ever since.

"Hmm."

An extremely indifferent attitude.

Since Jiang Si skipped their parents' funeral three years ago, his relationship with his sister has remained like this.

Jiang Si never thought about improving their relationship, and Jiang Keke also hardly wanted to say a word to him.

Though they lived together for years, they were no different from strangers.

The relatives naturally thought about adopting Jiang Keke—but no one was willing to adopt a heartless boy like Jiang Si.

Indifferent to the death of his parents, never mind crying, he didn't even show a trace of sadness. No one wanted to raise such a child.

Many people wanted to adopt Jiang Keke, but she was unwilling to leave the house left by their parents.

Thus, over time, the two of them lived like this for three years.

The sister advanced to middle school, and he entered high school.

"The parent meeting..."

"No need to trouble you."

Before he could finish, she already rejected him.

He had attended two parent meetings for his sister.

After all, with their parents gone, it was normal for a brother to attend the meeting, although he wasn't much older than his sister, making him somewhat of a joke at the meetings.

He heard that classmates at school always made fun of her after each parent meeting, so she didn't want him to attend this time.

Relatives could help out, but sometimes it's best to avoid using such connections if possible.

The more they get involved, the stronger the case for them to adopt Jiang Keke, until she couldn't refuse anymore.

Jiang Si didn't care if she would be adopted; to him, it would be a good thing if his sister was.

Since becoming a Magical Girl, he had a lot to study, and Jiang Keke's presence was somewhat obstructive.

To Jiang Si, his path of cultivation was always the priority.

Out of filial gratitude for raising him, he didn't mind taking care of his sister, but it would be more convenient for him if she chose to leave.

After washing up, he just sat down at the table when Keke stood up, grabbed her half-eaten bread, and swung her bag over her shoulder before heading out.

She acted as if being close to him caused allergies.

Jiang Si had gotten used to it too, scarfed down yesterday's leftover buns with some cold vegetables, grabbed his backpack, and went out as well.

Although he could fly by transforming into a Magical Girl, it required keeping his identity hidden; he didn't want to be exposed.

In recent years, Disaster Beasts appeared more frequently in Beihai, and the restriction on remembering Magical Girls had finally been relaxed. The memories weren't erased anymore, and you could hear Magical Girl discussions on the streets.

If he transformed carelessly, he would be recognized quickly, his position easily pinpointed, and then his identity...

The protagonists in web novels never reveal their secrets easily.

Even to family.

During the peak hours for school and work, even though Jiang Si had gotten there early, the crowd was overwhelming. Once he stepped in, he was swept along, having to grab a pole by the window to steady himself among the bustling crowd.

The smell of breakfast lingered, the early-morning students were chirpy and full of energy, the soothing early sunlight dispersed the chill from the night before, warming him enough to make him yawn, pulling him to drowsiness once more.

Previously, every aspect of mundane life made him anxious and frustrated.

Now wielding the power of the Magical Girl with the path of the Dao within reach, he finally felt peace and tranquility towards it all.

Not bad.

With this thought, he planned to nap a bit before reaching his destination, when suddenly the sunlight vanished.

A massive shadow loomed over.

Soon after, the bus filled with students and office workers began shaking violently.

Screams from students and shouts from the workers filled the air, some even making phone calls.

The previously peaceful morning was shattered.

Jiang Si looked up and saw a terrifying eyeball above the bus, the fierce winds it generated causing the bus to sway.

Disaster Beast.

Over these past three years, he had seen and dealt with quite a few, possibly more frequently due to the increase of Magical Girls in Beihai.

Perhaps they formed from the collective resentment of those not wanting to attend school or work.

This thing was just this troublesome; it manifested inexplicably as long as there was resentment.

The surrounding noise filled with chaos, it seemed someone even started crying, he touched the purple seed in his palm.

Just as the eyeball whipped up a more enormous wind, about to blow the entire bus into the air, a sliver of ice-blue light suddenly pierced through the distorted eyeball.
