Feng Mu originally didn't care much about how Ma Wei managed to bluff his way through; he wanted the result, not the process. But now he had to ask.
Ma Wei laid it all out: "I said the killer followed Brother Tong, suddenly launching an assault in the corridor, aiming every knife strike at Brother Tong's vital points. I rushed in to help but was immediately stabbed and knocked down. Brother Tong fought desperately, telling me to run back to the gang for help. By the time I returned with reinforcements, I saw Brother Tong lying in a pool of blood, his neck completely shattered."
Feng Mu sincerely praised, "You do grasp the essence of lying. Not bad, showing some quick wits. And what about the list? Did you mention it?"
Ma Wei couldn't tell if Feng Mu was admiring or mocking him, so he just answered, "The list was originally under the bowl. By the time I got back, I found it scattered over Brother Tong's body."
"Well done," Feng Mu gave Ma Wei silent applause in his heart.
