The next day, Kai didn't come. Nor the next.
Eli waited — same place, same time, same rain.
When he finally saw Kai again, he looked different — exhausted, eyes red.
"I had to leave for a while," Kai said quietly. "I didn't want you to see me like that."
Eli smiled sadly. "You don't have to hide your storms from me."
Kai's breath hitched. "You really mean that?"
Eli nodded. "Yes. Because I have them too."
