Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Ten Thousand Books Tower

After entering the Yan family, Li Changqing truly understood what it meant to be a wealthy family.

The size of this place could actually compete with the Forbidden City.

Although he had seen the courtyards of wealthy families on TV in his previous life, seeing them and actually stepping inside to experience them were entirely different things.

Everywhere there were busy servants, various pavilions and towers, carved railings, and jade masonry, all gleaming with gold, exuding luxury.

Li Changqing walked for a while, crossing bridges here, walking around courtyards there, and through gardens.

He was completely confused and lost his way.

Many servants saw Li Changqing, showing curious expressions, but no one came up to ask anything.

Because to them, this kind of thing was nothing out of the ordinary.

Probably just another fool from somewhere trying to get into the Yan family to find some fortune.

If he wandered around randomly, he would easily run into the Yan family's patrol team and be thrown out.

"Excuse me…" Li Changqing saw a young servant passing by and wanted to ask, but the servant hurried away without even turning his head.

"So urgent. Is the pace of life inside the Yan Mansion this fast?" Li Changqing was a bit speechless.

At this moment, the sound of laughter was heard.

A group of young people wearing yellow clothes came walking ahead, full of energy and smiles on their faces.

From their clothing, Li Changqing judged that they should be disciples of the Yan Mansion.

The leading young man walked arrogantly, surrounded by three people who had a flattering look on their faces.

The others also showed varying degrees of respect and awe towards the young man.

"Excuse me." Li Changqing thought it would be no problem to ask them, as they were familiar with the Yan Mansion and must know where all the books were kept.

But just as Li Changqing spoke, the leading young man frowned and looked at him with disdain.

"Move aside, don't block the way. Where is this guy from, so clueless, get lost quickly." The leading young man waved impatiently.

"What are you dazing for, didn't you hear Brother Sheng asking you to step aside? If you delay Brother Sheng's cultivation, can you afford the consequences?" The people around the young man chattered, criticizing Li Changqing.

They all competed to be the first, blushing and earnest, afraid of not catching Brother Sheng's attention.

What the heck, are all the kids in the Yan Mansion this cocky?

This made Li Changqing think of his unfilial son from his past life, acting exactly the same.

Truly impolite!

Li Changqing rolled up his sleeves, intending to teach this arrogant young boy a lesson.

But just as he was about to act, Li Changqing suddenly remembered.

Dammit, it's not going to work.

This kid is a Martial Artist.

Though his cultivation seems average, it's still cultivation. As an ordinary person, if I make a move, I'll just get beaten up, right?

"What? You want to fight?" Seeing Li Changqing roll up his sleeves, the leading young man's eyes flashed with coldness.

"Huh?" Li Changqing could only feign surprise and said, "What fighting? I… it's just hot, so I rolled up my sleeves."

"Hahaha." This sentence prompted bursts of laughter from the young men.

Leaving Li Changqing feeling somewhat frustrated.

A full-grown adult, having lived two lifetimes, was actually laughed at by a group of brats!

"Let's go, let's not bother with him." They laughed and walked away.

Li Changqing could only take a deep breath, telling himself not to get angry.

"Why are you here at the Yan Mansion? Are you lost? Who are you looking for, I happen to be free now and can take you there."

While Li Changqing was resting with his eyes closed, a clear voice sounded beside him.

Li Changqing opened his eyes and found a somewhat delicate-looking young man standing in front of him.

Li Changqing remembered this delicate young man had been at the back of the group, seeming somewhat aloof and out of place compared to the others.

"Yan Hanzhou, you're such a busybody, you haven't even handled your own affairs well, yet you're in the mood to care about others. No wonder you're destined to be banished from the Yan family."

The leading young man turned his head, sneering as he spoke.

"Brother Sheng, ignore him, he probably knows he doesn't stand a chance to stay, so he's given up."

"Once a genius! Haha, now can't even stay in the Yan Mansion anymore." Someone even whistled and taunted the young man called Yan Hanzhou.

Hearing their mockery, Yan Hanzhou frowned, but he said nothing.

Li Changqing was somewhat surprised by Yan Hanzhou's disposition, considering he appeared to be a boy of twelve or thirteen, yet was so forbearing.

"Uncle, who are you looking for?" Yan Hanzhou asked with a smile, "Maybe I can help you."

"I want to find a place where I can read." Li Changqing explained his purpose.

"A place for reading?" Yan Hanzhou was a bit taken aback.

"Where in the Yan Mansion has the most books?" Li Changqing rephrased his question.

"The place with the most books is naturally the Ten Thousand Books Tower." Yan Hanzhou answered instinctively.

"Could you take me to the Ten Thousand Books Tower?"

Knowing there truly is a place with many books, Li Changqing became expectant.

"I can take you, Uncle," Yan Hanzhou said with a bitter smile, "but the Ten Thousand Books Tower is a restricted area of the Yan family, which holds not only numerous books but also many precious paintings, and even our own disciples do not have the privilege to enter."

"Uncle, I'm afraid it might be impossible for you to go inside." Yan Hanzhou truthfully informed Li Changqing.

"I wonder if this token can get me in?" Li Changqing took out the token that Yan Botao had given him.

The moment Yan Hanzhou saw the token, his expression changed.

"Greetings to the Great Benefactor!" Yan Hanzhou stepped back, bowing with respect.

"Great Benefactor?" Li Changqing looked at the token in surprise, not expecting it to be a benefactor's token.

But what it was wasn't important; Li Changqing was concerned about whether the token would grant him entry to the Ten Thousand Books Tower.

"So can I enter the Ten Thousand Books Tower?" Li Changqing extended his hand to help Yan Hanzhou up.

"Yes, of course!" Yan Hanzhou quickly replied, "The Great Benefactor in our Yan family holds a position only second to the Clan Leader, naturally qualified to enter the Ten Thousand Books Tower. I will lead the way, Senior."

With that, Yan Hanzhou made a gesture inviting him to proceed.

"Thank you." Li Changqing said with a smile.

At that moment, Yan Botao was in his study, looking at a letter.

The content of the letter made Yan Botao frown, as if something significant had happened.

"What is it exactly?" Yan Botao murmured to himself as he slowly put down the letter.

Just then, there was a hurried knock on the door.

"Clan Leader." A man's voice called out.

"Is it the Third Elder? If you have something, come in and talk." Yan Botao calmly responded.

The door opened, and the Third Elder of the Yan family entered with excitement, saying, "The servants reported that the Great Benefactor's token has appeared, indicating that Senior Li Changqing has arrived at our Yan Mansion."
