Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Innate Enlightenment Scoundrel Physique

Under Wu Tianqi's reluctant cooperation, Li Yang got Jiang Banxia's QQ, and along with it, her phone number.

As for Li Yang saying he deleted Wang Manqi's QQ? He wouldn't believe it even if he was beaten to death!

"Let me tell you, if you dare pursue Jiang Banxia, Liu Dayou definitely won't let you off. Take my advice, the Little Witch is just fine."

Wu Tianqi left one thing unsaid.

What if he actually manages to win her over?

Who knows if Jiang Banxia might like a guy like Li Yang, who's cool and charming?

While it's natural to sympathize with a good friend's failure, if a good friend succeeds, the jealousy can become overwhelming.

"I'm just asking her for some study advice."

Wu Tianqi rolled his eyes: "I just knew you handsome types would be flirting with girls—such a lame excuse, yet you thought it up."

Li Yang wanting to study seriously now? That's about as likely as an eighty or ninety-year-old getting married—it might be on his mind, but he doesn't have the energy.

The word 'determination' only has the 'de' part.

Besides, he's got Wang Manqi on the brain; where's the room for study?

"Haha, my goal is Qingbei."

Wu Tianqi panicked.

He realized he had underestimated Li Yang's shamelessness.

To chase Jiang Banxia, he even made up nonsense about taking the Qingbei exam.

Looking at Li Yang's serious expression, he's probably convinced himself too!

Deceiving oneself? This guy must be a born scoundrel!

He already had the feeling that before long, Li Yang would be strolling through the little woods hand-in-hand with Jiang Banxia.

This scoundrel really deserves a beating!

In the midst of their chat, he saw Li Yang had already added Jiang Banxia's QQ, but unfortunately, she wasn't checking her phone at that moment.

But Li Yang promptly started texting Jiang Banxia.

"Hello Jiang, I'm Li Yang. There's a math problem I don't quite understand. Can I ask you for help?"

The text notification was pretty obvious, or maybe Jiang Banxia had her vibration on.

Wu Tianqi glanced in Jiang Banxia's direction and noticed she took out her phone, looking back at him.

A few seconds later, Jiang Banxia replied.

"The math teacher will be coming to go over the exam paper later. You can ask the teacher then."

Wu Tianqi watched from the side, satisfied with the response.

But the next moment, Li Yang edited the message: "If there's something the teacher can't solve, she asks you anyway. If she can't, won't that delay other students from getting help from the teacher? The college entrance exam is only a month away—every second counts. Wasting even a second of the teacher's time is unfair to other classmates."

Wu Tianqi: "???"

Can anyone actually say something like this?

Jiang probably won't fall for this, right? So disgusting!

He stared in Jiang's direction; from the side, Jiang seemed to frown.

Frowning is appropriate. It's so nauseating that yesterday's dinner could come up—block his number!

Sigh… Jiang's side profile is really beautiful…

Hearing a commotion from the side, he looked back and then…

He saw Jiang reply: "How about we wait until after school? Class is about to start."

Li Yang: "No need, just approve my QQ request, and I'll send you a photo of the question. This problem is really tough; I bet only you can solve it in the whole class."

Jiang Banxia: "Okay."

Wu Tianqi: "???"

What just happened?

Does this even make sense?

Just then, the class bell rang, and the math teacher arrived with the mock exam papers. Wu Tianqi hurried back to his seat.

But he was uncomfortable, as if ants were crawling on him.

Then he took out a pen and meticulously wrote down everything Li Yang had said in his notebook.

Spending the whole class analyzing it.

Looking at it from all angles, every word screamed shamelessness.

From the very start, Li Yang flattered Jiang Banxia, saying even the teacher asks her for help.

What's the highest honor for a student? Of course, it's getting into Qingbei.

But in daily study, the highest honor is when the teacher comes to ask for help.

Later, to urge Jiang to add his QQ, Li Yang shamelessly claimed only she could solve that problem in the class.

For a top student, how could she refuse the incoming challenge?

Solving it proves her skill; not solving it doesn't matter, since it was stated from the start that the question is very tough.

Every step made it easier to agree—who could refuse?

Ugh! Truly disgusting!

He quietly wrote the lessons of the class on paper.

The math teacher's lecture had gone completely unheard by Wu Tianqi.

But during this lesson, he felt he learned a lot.

He felt enlightened!

As the dismissal bell rang, the whole campus bustled.

Daytime was a break, but all classes needed to attend night study, just to quickly inform everyone about the mock exam results, letting all students know their shortcomings in the last month.

Wu Tianqi planned to remind Li Yang not to forget about sneaking the basketball, but just as he was approaching, he noticed Li Yang sitting directly next to Jiang with his book.

Jiang's previous deskmate Liu Meng had already gone downstairs early to occupy a spot in the office.

He walked over and heard Jiang Banxia say: "That question wasn't complicated; the teacher explained it many times, and most of the class can solve it."

Wu Tianqi became interested, thinking now Li Yang doesn't stand a chance. Jiang was purely talking about the problem, not giving him any opportunity.

Li Yang replied a bit disappointed: "I guess I missed too much coursework. Even though I want to pick it up and study, I can't understand a lot of it."

Wu Tianqi had reached the door but paused upon hearing this.

In his view, Li Yang must have understood the implied message from Jiang's words and is now decisively giving up.

But Jiang glanced at the scratch paper in Li Yang's hand and asked: "Do you have more questions for me?"

Li Yang nodded: "Yes, but they should be simple ones. I wouldn't want to take up your extended class time. I'll ponder them myself afterward."

Jiang couldn't quite fathom it, but suddenly felt guilty.

She hadn't done anything wrong, right?

She saw in Li Yang the regret, the annoyance.

Regret for not studying well earlier? Annoyance that there's no time left?

All of a sudden, she realized her words might have been overly harsh for Li Yang.

He hadn't studied well over two years, sometimes sleeping in class or skipping school.

The questions were indeed difficult for him.

She probably shouldn't have said those things.

"Li… Li Yang… if there's anything you don't understand, you can ask me."

Li Yang awkwardly turned his head, saying: "Aren't you going to the office? The head teacher won't let a poor student take up space."

Jiang's lips turned into a smile, mischief almost spilling from her eyes: "It's fine, there's a seat next to me, but you'll have to bring your own chair."

Having just stepped out the classroom, Wu Tianqi shuddered.

He… felt enlightened once more!
