Chapter 107 — Next Door Is Actually Sokovia

Inside the subway station, police finally began arriving.

After storing the M4 in his inventory space, William reappeared casually on the platform.

He scanned the area and spotted Michael, still trying to treat the wounded.

"Frank! Are you okay?!" William called out, rushing over and flipping Michael onto his back as if in concern.

Mistaken identity was fake.

Planting a mark was real.

"Oh—sorry, wrong person." William apologized when Michael looked completely confused, then let him go and walked away.

Weird… Michael really is just a normal, healthy human?

Does that mean he doesn't actively carry Alexander Corvinus' immortality virus?

William rubbed his chin as he headed toward the surface.

When he stepped out of the station, rain was still pouring.

A Maserati sped past, and through the mental mark, William clearly sensed Selene inside.

He didn't follow.

Right now, Selene returning to her kind was actually the safer scenario. The only one in real danger was Michael. As long as Selene and Michael didn't properly cross paths, William could take his time securing her reward.

He glanced back toward the subway entrance.

Should he just go kill Michael?

The thought surfaced—then he crushed it immediately.

He wasn't some bloodthirsty maniac.

And Michael… was actually a decent person.

He had been the first to rush to the wounded earlier. Sure, he was a trainee doctor, but not everyone who swears the Hippocratic Oath truly lives by it.

Michael had.

"Whatever. First figure out where I am, then keep an eye on Michael. The whole storyline revolves around his bloodline anyway. As long as I control that variable, Selene can't drift toward him."

With that, William walked into the rain-soaked streets.

Soon he found a bookstore.

Just inside the entrance—right where such things are usually displayed worldwide—he found a local city map.

He picked it up.

Hungary.

Budapest.

A landlocked Central European country.

Right next to Romania.

William wondered: If he went to Romania… would he run into Dracula? The system had already said this wasn't a pure Underworld universe.

He flipped the page.

Next came a map of all Hungary.

Then Europe.

His eyes paused.

"Sokovia?"

Isn't that Wanda Maximoff's homeland?

MCU?

William slowly lowered the map and walked to the counter.

"Hey— is there a bar or a library nearby with internet access?"

The shop owner was an elderly man. When he heard William speak, he slowly looked up, gave him a brief glance, and said flatly,

"No English."

That's when it hit William.

Hungary.

They speak Hungarian.

Michael spoke English because he was American. After his fiancée died in a car accident, he left the U.S. to avoid the memories and came to Hungary to start over.

Vampires, on the other hand, had endless lifespans. Out of boredom, they learned all kinds of languages. And with Amelia's American coven growing stronger over time, English had gradually become the common language among vampires worldwide.

Unfortunately, William had no translator.

So he left the bookstore.

Just then, an ambulance sped past him — Michael's mark was inside.

William thought for a moment, then pulled the KTM 390 Duke out of his storage space and followed on his bike.

Soon, the ambulance stopped at a hospital. Michael, as a medical intern, got out with it.

From the shadows, William watched the entire scene.

Michael really was suited to be a doctor.

Once Michael entered the hospital, William didn't follow. He waited outside.

With the mental mark in place, the moment Michael left, William would know. There was no way Michael could slip away.

Actually, compared to Michael, William was more curious about something else.

If this was the MCU as well…

Had the Ancient One noticed him — an existence that didn't belong in this timeline — through the Time Stone?

Or had the TVA detected him?

Would a squad of TVA agents suddenly show up and prune him as a timeline variant?

William shook his head.

He always had the Shameless universe as a fallback anyway. He wasn't really panicking — more just curious.

Gradually, the heavy rain began to ease.

Lightning still flashed now and then, thunder rumbling in the distance.

At that moment, Michael came out of the hospital.

He looked up at the sky. Seeing the rain had stopped, he decided not to take the subway again — after what had happened, it was probably shut down.

He chose to walk home instead.

William followed at a distance.

Ding.

The elevator chimed.

Michael stepped out and headed toward Apartment 501.

William didn't take the elevator. He used the stairs instead.

From afar, he saw Michael notice that his apartment door had already been opened.

Once Michael entered, William followed.

The reason was simple — Selene's mark was nearby too.

If he didn't move now, the two of them might meet.

Apartment 501

The moment Michael stepped inside, Selene grabbed him by the throat with one hand and lifted him against the wall.

"Why are they tracking you?!" she demanded.

"Wow. What a coincidence — you found this place too."

William's voice cut in, breaking the tension.

Selene didn't even get the chance to question how he'd found them.

The ceiling suddenly shook.

Concrete cracked, debris falling.

The Lycans had arrived.

Selene dropped Michael immediately and raised her USP Match .45, firing into the ceiling — pure battlefield instinct honed over centuries.

Freed, Michael didn't hesitate. He ran.

At the doorway, William deliberately stepped aside and let him go.

Selene was the one he cared about.

Whether Michael lived or died was up to fate.

After emptying two magazines, Selene turned on William.

"Why didn't you stop him?!"

William smiled.

"I'm here to kill werewolves. Why would I stop a human?"

She could only glare at him.

Then she took off after Michael.

William followed.

At the same time, he purchased another .45 handgun loaded with silver rounds from the weapons system and began firing at the four Lycans charging in from behind.
