Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: That's me

"God this feels so good" Fidelia stepped on the pedal and drove faster overtaking most of the cars ahead of her but she remembered to watch the speed limit

Fideli had kept driving, and then when she was almost at the hospital, she drove a bit faster. Then she hit the brake but she did it at the wrong time, and she crashed slightly in front of the black jeep that was in front of her.

"Oh God!" she said. "Andrian was so going to be pissed at her."

Leaving Andrea outside, the person in the jeep was already stepping down. His driver came first to check out the damage and let me switch off the engine of the car.

Fidelia stepped outside, feeling sorry as she was looking at the damage she had done.

"Ma'am, you just damaged our car. You're going to have to pay for the damages."

"I'm so, so sorry. It wasn't intentional. So I'll pay for the damage. You can have my card."

And then the man walked out from the car. He was a bit fat or chubby. He had a black suit on and a dark shade.

"Please make sure she pays every last penny."

"How can he be so reckles….Fidelia?"

"Sylvester? Oh my God, it's you. Wow. I can't believe I'm seeing you. How are you?"

Fidelia walked around her car to the other side Sylvester was standing

I went to greet Sylvester with a sly talk. They have grown bigger, I must say, and they are different. Totally different. Like this is not the day I know.

"Well, people change," Fidelia said.

"Well, I guess so after it's been years now. Yeah, it's really nice meeting you though." Fidelia forced a small smile.

"Yeah, here's my card. We could hang out or talk anytime."

"Yeah, sure." Fidelia said, handing her card to him too.

"All right. Oh, and make sure you pay for the damages. He's going to contact you."

"Gosh, you haven't changed at all."

And then Fidelia walked inside the hospital. She remembered Sylvester. He was always that kind of kid the one who does everything for money. If there was nothing to gain, he wouldn't even move. If there was profit, Sylvester was always there and he was always first in line.

He could do anything when it came to money. That was who he was.. Everyone had their own lives to face. Sylvester had built himself into some wealthy figure.

Fidelia had to meet up with Victoria, just like Mia told Fidelia. Victoria had been having issues paying her mom's hospital bills for the treatment. Serious ones.

After she got into the hospital and asked for directions of where the patients were being kept, those who had serious health issues, those who were in coma, those hanging between life and death.

A few nurses described the hospital for me, pointing me up the stairs, showing me the way. The place was huge and Fidelia knew it was just not an ordinary hospital.

It was one of the hospitals that the Richardson family owned. It carried their name, their money and their influence.

It was big, popular, and famous for what they do. A place people trusted because of the name behind it.

When Fidelia got upstairs, she asked for a few more directions, then she turned and noticed someone.

The female she was looking for sitting restlessly on the bench.

Her hands were shaking badly, and she was using them to cover her face, to dig into her hair, to hide her expression. Her whole body was restless. She was not calm at all. Not one bit.

Fidelia took some steps forward just when she was getting close, an alarm sounded through the hall.

It was a code red signal. It rang sharp and loud, bouncing off the walls. Everyone turned knowing it was an emergency.

It was the code that informed nurses that an emergency was happening inside.

It was either the patient being in a critical condition, or something worse.

Nurses rushed in immediately. Victoria stood up in fear, trying to ask them what was going on, but they didn't respond. They just kept calming her down with their hands, telling her to wait.

"Everything is under control," they said. And then they left her standing there, rushing straight into the room with the doctor who had just arrived.

Victoria was not stable at all. She kept pacing up and down the corridor. She didn't even notice me standing there, watching her the entire time. Her mind was lost. Her body was trembling. Her spirit was breaking.

Fidelia could feel her pain. The pain of losing someone… It is never pleasant. I had felt it myself. Fidelia had experienced death herself. She knew how heavy it was. She knew the sharpness of it.

Then finally, the doctor came out. The nurses followed behind him.

"Doctor, how is she?" Victoria rushed her words, her eyes begging.

The doctor didn't reply immediately. He looked at her, then took a deep breath.

"She was unstable for a while. She went into shock. But now… she is back." His tone was steady but heavy.

"I will be honest with you. She really needs the treatment. As soon as possible. You need to get the payment done so she can get the full treatment. Without it…" He stopped.

Victoria's voice broke. "Doctor, please. Is there anything I can do?"

He looked down. "I am so sorry, ma'am. There is really nothing I can do."

The doctor left and Victoria closed her eyes, trying to hold back the tears, then she fell back on the chair feeling completely helpless.

Fidelia walked to her and slightly tapped her shoulder.

Victoria jolted in shock, turning her head quickly.

"I'm sorry," Fidelia said softly. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Victoria whispered back, though her voice was not fine at all.

"No..you are not" Hearing this sounded ridiculous to Victoria. She just told her she was fine so what was her issue.

"I just told you I'm fine can you stay away from me"

"I said you not fine because if I had a mother who was sick I will not be but don't worry ill settle this"

"What the.." But Fidelia had already stood up and took her phone out and placed a call.

The next minute, a doctor rushed out of another room, his face pale and hands trembling.

"Get all the nurses available now!" he barked. His voice shook as he added, "Andrian Richardson will be here soon. He said his wife is already here. I need everyone on alert. Hurry!"

The words spread like wildfire through the hospital. Amartan was buzzing. Nurses hurried in every direction, each one scanning the hallways, expecting the wife of Dan Richardson to appear at any moment.

But all they found was Victoria, pacing restlessly, and Fidelia, standing quietly at her side.

The doctor frowned, glancing around. "Has anyone seen Fidelia? The wife of Andrian Richardson?"

No one answered. The room was heavy with silence until Fidelia slowly raised her hand.

"That's me." Fidelia smiled and glanced at the doctor raising her eye brows

Everyone in the hall went silent as all focused their attention at me

The nurses gasped, and some even covered their mouth while the doctor almost had a heart
