Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Before Death, I Must Take Betty to See the Northern Lights in Iceland!

Osborn Corporation suffers major theft!

This news rapidly spread throughout Osborn Corp., causing shockwaves.

Just a short while ago, several highly valuable core products or prototypes within the corporation had vanished without a trace, resulting in devastating losses.

Even more ridiculously, according to news that leaked from an unknown source, someone had witnessed the suspect's likeness.

It was none other than the former second-largest shareholder of Stark Industries, Obadiah Stane!

All sorts of rumors flew around immediately.

Some said Stane never died and had been lurking within the Osborn building the whole time.

Others claimed that Stane's ghost had been resurrected, but that he was a Stark Industries man in life and death, and even as a ghost, he hadn't forgotten to devote himself to Stark Industries, making a special trip to Osborn Corp. just to cause trouble.

Even wilder were the rumors that Stane had become a man-eating ghoul, wandering the Osborn Corporation in search of prey, with the mysterious disappearance of Dr. Doom, who had recently joined the company, serving as the best evidence of his malevolence.

In any case, none of this had anything to do with Du Mu, who had already fled at the speed of light.

When Du Mu transmitted the acquired data to Nick Fury, Fury's face darkened further, his voice suppressing anger.

"It must be that old fool Ross again. It seems he hasn't given up on that damn Super Soldier Program."

"Agent Du Mu, I have an urgent mission for you now!"

"Just a while ago, General Ross illegally breached S.H.I.E.L.D.'s encrypted database and used it to pinpoint Bruce Banner's location. I need you to return to Bruce Banner immediately! You absolutely cannot let him fall into General Ross's hands!"

[NPC Nick Fury has issued you a new quest]

[Quest: Battle for Bruce Banner]

[Goal: Do not let Bruce Banner fall into General Ross's hands]

[Reward: Experience +1500, S.H.I.E.L.D. Reputation +30, Random Equipment 1, Random Item 1]

Was Bruce a ball?

Why was he being snatched back and forth by S.H.I.E.L.D. and the military every day?

Du Mu asked in surprise, "When did S.H.I.E.L.D.'s security system become as bad as Hammer Industries'?"

Just recently, he'd heard Tony constantly complain about Hammer Industries' security system, and unexpectedly, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s security system had been breached too.

Nick Fury gritted his teeth. "That's because of the World Security Council! They granted General Ross special authorization!"

While S.H.I.E.L.D. supervised global paranormal events, it was also regulated by the World Security Council, composed of representatives from multiple nations.

Even Nick Fury, the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., had to comply with the Council's resolutions on certain levels, no matter how utterly idiotic they were.

Upon hearing this, Du Mu immediately patted his chest and declared, "Director, just issue a quest, and I promise to chop down those Council members and rally support for you to become the supreme authority! Then S.H.I.E.L.D. will be unstoppable, invincible, we'll fight all the way to the moon, flatten the entire—"

"Stop! Stop! Cut it out!!"

Nick Fury was so scared his voice cracked, and he hastily interrupted Du Mu's dangerous statement.

A chill ran down his spine. He was terrified that if Du Mu continued his loose talk, S.H.I.E.L.D. would be branded the next Hydra and shut down by the entire world tomorrow!

"I will handle these matters. You just need to complete your mission."

After saying this, Nick Fury immediately hung up, fearing Du Mu would utter more dangerous remarks.

Nighttime.

Several military tactical vehicles swiftly drove into the Harlem neighborhood.

Overhead, several armed helicopters hovered and roared, their searchlights beaming onto the area below.

A soldier who looked like he'd be good at playing the piano was the first to jump out of a military tactical vehicle, gun drawn, charging purposefully toward a nearby building.

Other soldiers followed closely, surging into the building like a tide, leaving only a few soldiers outside on high alert.

Bang!

Just then, a sniper shot broke the silence of the night!

The glass of a window on that building shattered instantly, falling to the ground in countless glittering fragments.

Hearing the gunfire, passersby instinctively and skillfully dropped to the ground, hands covering their heads.

As New York citizens, this was a skill everyone had to master.

Soon, everyone saw Bruce Banner, tightly bound in restraints and his face bruised, being escorted out by a group of soldiers.

"Daddy! Please let him go!"

Bruce's girlfriend, and General Ross's daughter, Betty, was crying and begging her father.

General Ross was unmoved, saying coldly, "Bruce Banner is a fugitive. I will never let him go. If you weren't my daughter, I would have cuffed you too right now!"

General Ross intensely disliked Bruce as a son-in-law.

This was evident in the eight years he had spent relentlessly pursuing Bruce across the globe.

Bruce was utterly unlucky to have such a hardcore father-in-law.

He never imagined that the person accompanying his world tour wouldn't be his girlfriend, but a scruffy old man!

Of course, Bruce knew General Ross's true target wasn't him, but the green monster inside him.

The cold-blooded general was obsessed with his Super Soldier program, attempting to use the Hulk to create a super-soldier who surpassed Captain America, which was why he was so determined to capture him.

But now, Bruce wasn't worried at all.

Because he had successfully developed the antidote to destroy the Hulk!

And the antidote's effects were remarkably significant. General Ross had beaten Bruce nearly to a pulp, yet there was not the slightest trace of green on Bruce's face.

In contrast, General Ross was so red with anger he looked like he was about to transform into a Red Hulk himself.

General Ross's core goal in chasing Bruce for eight years was the Hulk!

Now that Bruce had injected the antidote, the Hulk was very likely to disappear forever, meaning General Ross's cherished Super Soldier program would be completely ruined!

Eight years of his life down the drain—it was easy to imagine General Ross's mood at that moment!

The more General Ross thought about it, the angrier he became. He fiercely threatened Bruce, "If the Hulk is gone, I promise you, you're finished!"

Bruce didn't respond. He knew his fate in Ross's hands would not be pleasant.

But Bruce had no regrets.

To him, the Hulk was a nightmare.

He couldn't even keep his conversations with his girlfriend G-rated, terrified that a moment of excitement would send his girlfriend flying.

Thinking of this, Bruce looked at the tearful Betty, his voice filled with deep regret.

"Betty, I don't regret what I did. My only regret is that I couldn't keep our promise to take you to Iceland to see the Northern Lights."

"It's okay, Bruce, I don't blame you," Betty sobbed, covering her mouth.

Bang!

A gunshot suddenly shattered their moment of tragedy!

An orange bullet struck Bruce precisely in the forehead. Bruce collapsed instantly.

Everyone present was stunned!

General Ross reacted first, his eyes splitting with rage as he scanned the surroundings, roaring, "Who fired that shot!? Who was it!!?"

Seeing Bruce die, General Ross was more distraught than anyone.

"Bruce! No—!!"

Betty screamed hysterically, looking at her fallen lover.

However, in the very next instant!

Bruce's tightly closed eyes suddenly snapped open!

His body sprang up from the stretcher as if released by a giant spring. Simultaneously, his clothes and the restraints ripped apart instantly, revealing the brand new green underwear underneath!

A blazing fire was burning atop his head!

Bruce's eyes were sharp as knives, filled with unshakeable determination, as he let out a great roar:

"Before death, I must take Betty to see the Northern Lights in Iceland!!"

The moment the words fell!

Bruce scooped Betty up in his arms, instantly bursting forth with superhuman speed, racing wildly into the distance!

He left behind only a group of dumbfounded onlookers.
