Chapter 1 - Candy Stealer

James was walking through the city with a heavy heart. His love confession to his childhood friend was rejected.

Liza called him, "We are friends, nothing more." That rejection stopped him from going on any adventures.

As he walked through the city, he stumbled across a candy stall. The old man selling the candy seemed to be a nice guy. Occasionally, he gives candy to children for no payment.

I approached him and asked, "Old man, why do you give candy for free?"

The old man looked at James and smiled kindly. He then replied, "No act of kindness goes unnoticed. Who knows, perhaps I might be rewarded for it?"

Rewarded... James mused about it.

While musing, James noticed a man walking toward the stall. His slow and steady step piqued James's interest, so James paid attention to this newcomer.

The man walked in a measured manner toward the stall. Once he arrived, he skillfully grabbed a bunch of candy from the stall, unnoticed by the old man.

James frowned as the man soon walked toward an alley.

James followed him quietly, and once they both reached a secluded place, the man stopped walking.

He said in a steady voice, "Sir, you have been following me. What business do you have with me?"

He turned his front toward James.

James frowned and answered, "I saw you stole; it's not my business, but why candy?"

The man showed a slightly surprised face. "Amazing, sir! Not many can see me when I act."

"As for the candy..." The man took out a piece of candy, unwrapped it, and threw it into his mouth. "Nothing particular; I was just practicing my stealing skills."

James looked at the man eating the candy he stole and soon lost interest. "So, a thief, huh? Sorry for bothering you."

James then turned around and walked away from the alley.

The man then said to James in the same steady voice, "Sir, if you need any help in stealing, you can find me. I am called Julian the 7-faced..."

James turned around, but he could no longer see the man.

A bit puzzled by the sudden disappearance, James walked back to the stall and bought the same candy as the one the man had eaten.

He threw it into his mouth and ate it. "Mango-flavored..."

James then continued walking through the city.

The End.
