In her red colour sedan, we reached the office in no time.
This time, when I entered the company with her, I felt countless envious gazes directed at me, but with Catherine's fierce eyes, all of them quickly lowered their heads.
"Cheq, go to your room and do your usual work, no one will dare to trouble you...I will take care of everything else."
Catherine spoke loudly before disappearing to her office.
Gasps~
Her voice was loud enough for everyone present to hear, sending a strong warning.
There was nothing special that happened at work, although when I went to the public washroom, I noticed some people looking at me with shocked eyes and mumbling something to each other while secretly pointing fingers at me, I didn't care much.
By the closing time, just as I was about to take the stairs to go down, I saw Catherine patiently waiting for me near the end of the hallway.
Seeing me arrive, she trotted over to me and gave a big smile.
[Hehe, Cheq...don't blame me, I secretly made an announcement to all the employees that you must be treated with utmost respect else they can say goodbye to their jobs~}
Hearing her inner voice, I realised why no one came to bother me today.
"Follow me, we must go home together to better appear in the act."
"Now that we have performed a play in front of my parents, they might ask the office employees whether we are really a couple or not, so we must pretend to the fullest."
Catherine signalled me to follow in the company's elevator.
With her flustered expression while talking, I had a strong hunch that she must have spoken something outrageous in the announcement she made regarding me.
Seeing her go inside the elevator, I hastily followed her.
The elevator slowly descended towards the parking space, and the atmosphere between us was getting more and more imperceivable.
There seemed to be a strange warmth despite the cold metallic surroundings of the elevator.
I thought of going home alone, but this silly CEO, afraid her parents might be guarding the door to her apartment, shamelessly tagged along.
Never mind, with her, I will get a free ride home.
While standing beside her, I remembered our morning interaction, as we concluded our deal, our handshake that instant lingered for a few seconds, then we both awkwardly let it go, and we pretended that nothing happened.
It was then that a strong attractive smell drifted into my nose.
Her perfume is too strong and heavy, should I tell her?
Never mind, what if she gets angry, no need to be involved in such a hassle.
Taking a deep breath, Catherine made a soft hum.
After tugging back her hair that had come over her forehead, her lips slowly parted,
"Good, so we have an agreement, okay?"
-Her tone seemingly composed, but the mild blush on her cheeks and her red ears easily gave away her embarrassed self.
I had no reason to refuse.
"Fine!"
Even though it was a mere fake agreement, I knew it was much more than that.
We had unknowingly stepped into a complicated relationship, one filled with numerous challenges of its own.
After a while, the elevator slowly opened with a ringing sound, pulling me back to reality.
There were hardly any cars parked today.
Catherine's steady walk with her high heels produced a peculiar clicking sound, forcing me to subconsciously focus on her long legs.
No...I am an upright gentleman, I can't be tempted!
Since she told me to keep following, so kept my head down I silently walked behind her.
This time she stopped in front of a black SUV, as she pressed the keys in her hands, the vehicle's headlights readily blinked signalling the doors were unlocked.
"Get in!"
With a domineering tone, she commanded.
"Hmm?…..I thought your vehicle was the earlier sedan."
I still looked at the car standing at the right corner in which we had arrived in the morning.
"Actually, this is my personal parking space, all the 8-9 vehicles you see parked here belong to me."
Catherine's face was full of smugness.
Damn, the life of rich people,
Full of so much pretending.
With the system in my hand, we will also hopefully reach this point in life.
