Ren looked up.
At first, he saw nothing but shadows stretching across the ceiling.
Then something moved.
A shape detached itself from the darkness massive, silent, and unnatural.
The creature slowly unfolded from the ceiling beams like a reptile shedding from the shadows.
It landed on the ground with a heavy, wet thud.
Kai stepped back instantly.
"…Nope."
The thing that stood before them looked like a giant lizard, but its proportions were wrong.
Its limbs were long and almost human-like, bending at unnatural angles as it steadied itself. A thick tail dragged across the floor behind it. and at the end of that tail split three pointed tips, twitching slowly like scorpion stingers.
Its skin looked slick and dark, almost melting into the shadows around it.
But the most disturbing part was its mouth.
When it opened its jaws slightly, rows of flat, human-like teeth were revealed. not sharp, not predatory.
Just wrong.
Like a mouth meant to chew… not hunt.
Kai's voice came out as a whisper.
"…Why does it have people teeth?"
The creature tilted its head slowly, studying them.
Then its eyes shifted toward the crystal behind them.
Ren immediately understood.
"It's guarding it."
The monster took a slow step forward.
Its long claws scraped across the metal floor, producing a hollow screech that echoed through the chamber.
Kai raised his hands slightly.
"Okay… okay… we can talk about this…"
The creature didn't react.
Instead, the three-pointed tail lifted behind it, twitching in the air like it was preparing to strike.
Ren's muscles tightened.
"Don't move suddenly," he murmured.
Kai blinked.
"…It's literally preparing to stab us."
The creature's head lowered slightly.
Its jaw opened wider now.
Those unnatural human teeth pressed together slowly… grinding.
A low, guttural sound vibrated from deep inside its throat.
Then it lunged.
Kai shouted.
"RUN!"
