Chapter 96 - Chapter 96 Boggart (Part 2)

Fear is an emotion, and its position is actually very similar to pain. It can help humans avoid dangerous things. Anything that can cause fear, apart from instinctive disgust, is mostly because the feared thing has brought bad memories, causing mental or physical trauma. August 1?

Malfoy doesn't quite agree with using a Boggart as a way to confront fear.

For example, Neville is very afraid of Snape. Even if Snape is hateful, his position at Hogwarts is still as a teacher. No matter how much they uglify the Boggart's illusion, they can still laugh.

Because even if Snape himself were really here, he would at most reprimand them and deduct some points.

But what if it were Voldemort?

Even if he were wearing a long, lace-trimmed dress, a tall hat with a moth-eaten old eagle specimen on top, and swinging a huge scarlet handbag, dressed like Neville's grandmother.

So what?

No matter how his image changes, he is still the Dark Lord whose name makes people tremble with fear.

To take a step back, if you develop courage in front of a fake, who can remain calm in front of the real thing?

Fear can sometimes affect a person's will, but it can also make people more cautious.

Having fear and awe in one's heart is not necessarily a bad thing.

Of course, in situations like Neville's, and the fear caused by Ron's childhood trauma, using a Boggart is still very effective and won't have any future worries.

As he thought, he watched the students leave their seats one by one and then return.

The things that students fear are indeed varied: snakes (this must be a Slytherin student?), giant spiders, mummies wrapped in bandages, and for some, their parents. In front of Crabbe and Goyle appeared the exam papers from the end of the last semester, which filled the whole class with laughter. Even Lupin, stroking his chin, joked, "It seems that last year's exam questions were indeed a bit difficult, but this year I will make my suggestions to Professor Dumbledore and have him control the difficulty."

Applause came from under the podium again.

"Draco, it's your turn," a tall, thin boy walked up to Malfoy and said with a smug smile. He had just turned a female ghost into a frantically scurrying beetle, winning applause.

"What do you think Malfoy is most afraid of?" The students in other seats began to whisper.

As the most prestigious student in Slytherin, they had enough curiosity to explore what Malfoy feared.

They soon found out that the beetle form of the Boggart left by the previous student began to grow and float in the air. A black cloak took shape, but it looked a bit tattered. A pair of scabbed hands stretched out from under the cloak, followed by his corpse-like face.

"Dementor!" Some students screamed. This creature had already left a deep impression on them on the train.

What they didn't notice was that Lupin's brow was tightly furrowed.

He could understand ordinary students fearing Dementors, and even Harry was troubled by it, but this student was an exception. He still remembered how Malfoy used the Patronus Charm to fight off Dementors on the train, which puzzled him. He was also curious about what this student was afraid of. Dumbledore had said that this was perhaps the most outstanding student in recent years.

"Uh..." Malfoy stared at the Boggart in the form of a Dementor, then slowly said, "Now I realize these things aren't that scary after all." Then he snapped his fingers, smiled slightly, and said, "Riddikulus."

The Boggart remained in the form of a Dementor and turned into a wisp of smoke, disappearing with the wind.

The students below were silent for a moment, then applause thundered. Even the way he dealt with the Boggart was different from others. Compared to other students, Malfoy didn't transform the Boggart into another form before defeating it.

This proved that he overcame his fear on the spot without relying on external objects.

"Professor Lupin, I'm sorry, I'll find a new Boggart before your next class. I didn't seem to control the strength of the spell just now," Malfoy seemed to come back to his senses and quickly expressed his apologies to Lupin.

"No need to apologize, this proves that you have mastered the spell very well, ten points to Slytherin!" Lupin's mouth twitched slightly. He hadn't had such a vivid expression in a long time. His intuition told him that the student in front of him was not as obedient as he had imagined. He could even assert that everything the student had done on stage just now was deliberate, and it gave him a strange sense of familiarity.

But even so, Lupin wasn't angry. After all, he was kind by nature, and this wasn't a big deal. "Return to your seat," Lupin said.

"Thank you for your tolerance," Malfoy thanked Lupin and strode past him. What most students didn't notice was that when Malfoy passed by Lupin, he paused for a moment, and a pale look flashed across Lupin's face, but he quickly adjusted and acted as if nothing had happened.

"What did you say to Professor Lupin?" Pansy couldn't help but ask as soon as Malfoy came down.

Malfoy raised his eyebrows, somewhat surprised that Pansy's observation skills had improved so much, but he didn't answer her directly. He just said, "I just wanted to ask him what he himself was most afraid of. Aren't you even a little curious?"

"Really?" Pansy looked suspiciously at Lupin on the stage, her eyebrows furrowed slightly, and then she suddenly raised her hand.

"Yes, Miss Parkinson?"

"Professor Lupin, do you have a question?"

"Professor Lupin, what would the Boggart look like in front of you?" Pansy asked directly.

"That's a very direct question. I'm afraid I can't answer it. As a teacher, I should still maintain some dignity in front of the students. I will definitely tell you all on the day I leave," Lupin directly refused the question, disappointing many students. Then he jokingly added, "If someone pranks me by sending me a gift in that form, I would definitely be terrified."

"Since the Boggart has now been eliminated, you can now read the chapter on Boggarts in the book and hand in a summary as homework on Tuesday."

"The formal content of this lesson is over. Everyone can study on their own for the rest of the time," Lupin then calmly announced the end of the lesson.

"His expression was different when I asked him than when you asked him," Pansy said softly, unconvinced.

"After being asked by me, he must have been mentally prepared. It would be strange if he reacted again when you asked," Malfoy could only explain it this way.

"The familiar perfunctoriness again," Pansy made a face at Malfoy and turned her head to read, looking like she was getting angry again.

After some more time passed, the bell rang, and Pansy and Malfoy began to pack their books to leave the classroom. As Malfoy was about to step out of the classroom, Pansy's soft voice came from behind.

"Thank you."

"Thank you for what?"

"You blew up the Boggart."

"That's just because I didn't control my strength well."

"You're lying to ghosts," Pansy stared at Malfoy "fiercely."

To this, Malfoy could only shake his head helplessly. (To be continued.)
