Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Power In My Hand

Aria

The sound of suitcase wheels scraping against the marble floor echoed loudly in the quiet house. I deliberately used this time to escape from Arden and his family's clutches. I had already left the divorce papers in our bedroom.

"Don't expect me to forgive you so easily. I will return to take revenge for everything you have done to me." Before I stepped out of the house, I made sure that I did not forget the hatred in my heart for everyone in this house.

The click of my heels echoed as the door closed. From a distance, I heard the soft sound of a car stopping in front of the house's gate.

A brand-new luxury car was parked in front of the house, and a smirk appeared on my lips when I saw it. Of course, I already knew that they had come to pick me up.

"Young lady! The master is waiting for your return," said a middle-aged man who got out of the car as I walked closer.

"I don't know if I should be happy to return home," I replied softly, but I quickly shook my head.

I gently waved my hand. "Let's go!" There was no point in my staying in this house anymore.

The middle-aged man respectfully opened the car door for me. For the last time before I left, I turned around to look at the house I had lived in for the past three years.

All that remained now was anger and disappointment when I looked at the house. I will remember this feeling and make you regret betraying me, Arden..

. .

The Lennox family mansion was very crowded at the moment. I could see a row of servants lined up at the entrance to welcome my return.

I didn't expect my parents to do this. I thought they would be angry with what I did three years ago.

"Welcome back, young lady!" The servants greeted me in unison.

From a distance, I could see my mother running towards me, and seeing that brought all the emotions I had been holding back to the surface.

I couldn't hold back my tears as my mother hugged me warmly.

"Mother, I'm sorry," I whispered in my mother's embrace.

I realized I had grown too cold after not feeling this warmth while with Arden.

"Aria, your father and I have been so worried about you all this time. We are so happy that you are home. Don't you know how much I missed you?" replied my mother, sobbing just like me.

From the corner of my eye, I saw my father's silhouette. I thought he would scold me, but in fact, he just stood there quietly, patting me gently on the shoulder.

"You're finally back. Don't forget what you said to me before," said Father, still in his cold, emotionless voice.

"Stop scaring your daughter! Do you want her to run away again because of your temper?" replied Mother, glaring at Father, telling him to be quiet.

Without realizing it, I chuckled softly while occasionally sobbing. It had been a long time since I had seen such a warm interaction between my parents.

"Oh my, let's go inside. I'm sure you must be tired," said Mother, immediately hugging me again and taking me inside the Lennox family's luxurious mansion..

. .

After talking to my mother, I was calm enough to have a serious conversation with my father. Of course, I didn't forget what I had promised him to be allowed to return to the Lennox family.

"I won't force you to inherit the company because your older brother is already handling it. It's just that there's a problem with the Reed family..." Father glanced at me with a calm gaze, unlike usual.

"Yes, I know. They must be angry because I ran away three years ago. As I said before, I will go through with the arranged marriage you asked for as long as the young master of the Reed family is still interested in doing so." Even though my eyes were still puffy and red from crying, I tried to calm down and explain my intentions to my father.

After being betrayed by Arden, whom I thought was my true love, being arranged to marry a stranger didn't seem so bad to me at the moment.

"Since you caused this problem, you are the one who has to solve it. Ask the young man yourself what he wants," replied my father as he handed me a piece of red velvet paper.

I frowned in confusion, but still took the piece of paper from my father's hand.

"Are you sure about this, Aria?" After a long silence, my mother finally spoke again, now with a hint of concern in her voice.

I smiled slightly at Mother, "What Father said is right, no matter what, I have to meet that man."

My gaze returned to the piece of velvet paper, and when I turned it over, there was a message written in very charming handwriting.

[Meet me at Vetra at 7 p.m. tonight, if you really feel guilty.]

I grimaced when I read the message. It seemed that the young master of the Reed family was really offended by my departure on our engagement day three years ago.

"If I had known it would end up like this, I would have preferred to get engaged to you back then," I muttered softly as I sighed.

Now I had to resolve the problem I had caused three years ago. I hoped he would still forgive me after I had embarrassed him that day.

. . .

On the way to the restaurant called Vetra that my ex-fiancé had mentioned, I felt very nervous because I was afraid he would not accept my apology.

I slowed my pace as much as possible when I stepped into the restaurant. I was wearing a vintage-style dress with an elegant and simple cut.

The inner layer was a light-blue chiffon shirt with long balloon sleeves, giving a soft, elegant impression. On top, I wore an ivory white sleeveless dress with a V-neck and a slim waist, accentuating a feminine silhouette without being excessive.

A large ribbon adorned my long, loose hair, while a pearl necklace around my neck added a classic touch.

Realizing my mistake towards him, I didn't forget to bring him a gift. At least he would see my sincerity with this.

"I hope he's not a petty person," I muttered with a slight smile as I looked at the gift I brought for him.

However, because I wasn't paying close attention to the road ahead, I didn't notice that there was a waiter in front of me. My eyes widened in horror when I thought that the tray full of food was going to hit me, but I felt someone pull my waist.

I spun around and landed in the warm embrace of a handsome man with blue eyes.

My subconscious immediately reminded me that I recognized this gaze.

"Aria, are you okay?" I heard the man ask me, concerned.

"Do you know me?" Still half-conscious from the shock, I asked stupidly.

The man chuckled softly, then the look in his blue eyes turned sharp, and I... was surprised by the change.

"You don't even remember the fiancé you left behind."
