Chapter 1: Being Cannon Fodder Is Such a Beautiful Thing!

"Uchiha Ci, the clan leader has ordered that all clan ninjas gather at the Police Department Hall."

"I understand. I'll be there right away."

Uchiha Ci nodded calmly as he responded, fishing an empty soda can out of the river.

The Uchiha chunin who delivered the message gave him a strange look and, before disappearing with a Body Flicker, whispered:

"Kid, the Third Kazekage has gone missing. The borders are getting tense. Looks like the Great Ninja War is about to break out."

"You're just a genin right now. Don't try to be a hero and take missions you shouldn't!"

Then the chunin frowned again, glancing at what Uchiha Ci was doing, and said helplessly:

"As an Uchiha, what you should be doing now is training hard and improving your strength. Stop wasting your time on these trash tasks."

When the chunin left, Uchiha Ci's eyes immediately revealed a barely contained joy. He threw the fork he used to clean the river, flipped midair, and landed on the shore with a splash.

He tossed the empty can into the burlap sack by the riverbank.

"Damn, is the Ninja World War finally about to start?"

Uchiha Ci's face lit up with excitement.

"I can finally leave the village and die! This past year has been killing me with boredom!"

"Picking up garbage, catching cats, babysitting, dredging rivers…"

"These stupid missions—how am I supposed to die like this?"

Uchiha Ci exhaled deeply, his hands trembling with excitement.

"I can finally go home!"

It was easy to tell that the current Uchiha Ci was no longer the one who originally existed in the ninja world's history.

He was a transmigrator.

But not an ordinary one.

He was a man chosen by the Will of Heaven itself—one in a million—the Heaven-Sent Warrior!

And what was a Heaven-Sent Warrior?

Simply put:

He would be randomly assigned a talent, then sent into various chaotic worlds, where he had to rewrite the tragedies of history through his own strength and effort—pushing society forward toward a happy ending.

Once he completed this task, Uchiha Ci would receive a massive reward and return to his original world.

Otherwise, if he failed or acted against humanity, he would be erased by the Will of Heaven at the end of the story.

Of course, as a proper celestial institution, the Will of Heaven also provided insurance.

If Uchiha Ci were to die accidentally while trying to save the world, he would receive compensation—returning to his original world with a hefty insurance payout of five hundred million yen.

However, this payout could not be lower than the historical baseline, and malicious suicide would void the claim.

Uchiha Ci had been waiting for this moment.

The body's original owner had lost his parents at a young age and was often bullied by his clan due to his poor talent. Up until now, he was just a genin.

He wasn't even mentioned in the Naruto story. Most likely, he died in the Third Great Ninja War, during the Nine-Tails' attack, or in the Uchiha Massacre.

In short—he was cannon fodder.

And what was the fate of cannon fodder?

Uchiha Ci didn't need to think twice.

The battlefield!

As long as he went to the battlefield and got stabbed to death, even the stingiest insurance company would have to pay up!

Coincidentally, it was right before the Third Great Ninja War.

The Hidden Sand, having lost the Third Kazekage, was about to officially declare war on Konoha, pushing the battle lines forward.

From this point on, chaos would engulf all sides—

The Battle of Kikyo Mountain!

The Battle of Kannabi Bridge!

The Green Reef and Mist Battle!

The Cloud Lightning Gorge Invasion!

The final battle of the Third Raikage against ten thousand enemies!

The Rain Country's Demonic Statue rampage!

All those legendary wars—

all those secret plots,

those greedy lines drawn across maps—

They would all erupt during this era!

Uchiha Ci thought about it. With so many iconic battles, joining any one of them would guarantee him a swift and glorious death.

As cannon fodder, dying quickly was inevitable!

And even if by some miracle he survived every war, he could still face the Nine-Tails' attack or the Uchiha Massacre later.

Of course, Uchiha Ci had once considered becoming a true Heaven-Sent Warrior and rewriting history—after all, Naruto had many regrets.

But after evaluating the situation…

He realized that, with his ability, dreaming of a better ending than Naruto's was pure fantasy.

Naruto had multiple "cheat codes": divine lineage, father's sacrifice, ancestral blessings, and the power of destiny itself—yet he still almost lost.

And him? He couldn't even awaken the Sharingan!

He had no powerful bloodline to rely on, nor the knowledge or skill to reinvent technology and ascend to godhood.

How could he fight?

Maybe if the Will of Heaven gave him a "Start with One, Get Mangekyō for Free" perk—but it didn't. The Will of Heaven was a legitimate company, after all, and stingy with cheats.

So far, the talent he was supposed to receive hadn't even been delivered.

Other than becoming cannon fodder, he couldn't think of any other way to "win."

So when Uchiha Ci realized he could legally claim insurance upon death, his entire mindset changed.

Five hundred million—who wouldn't want that?

As for saving the world?

He'd rather leave that to the "Chosen Prince"!

As for Uchiha Ci, he would simply play his part in the turbulent ninja wars—

Find a battlefield,

give his all,

and die with honor!

Such noble resolve would surely move even Sarutobi Hiruzen to tears!

The Hokage would probably burn offerings for him at the Memorial Stone!

"At a time like this, gathering the clan must mean a war mobilization meeting. Dangerous missions are limited—I can't let them get taken by others!"

"I have to hurry!"

"This time, I'll shed my blood for Konoha!"

"I'm all in!"

Uchiha Ci's eyes were firm and clear.

He took off his rain boots and sprinted toward the Police Department, leaving behind the burlap sack and fork by the riverbank.

At the same time, Uchiha Shisui, who was leaping across rooftops toward the Police Department, happened to overhear Uchiha Ci's words from below.

He froze midair for a long moment—almost stepping into thin air and falling off the roof.

Then his eyes lit up.

"There's actually someone in the Uchiha clan who thinks just like me?"

Shisui rubbed his chin as he watched Uchiha Ci run toward the sunset.

"But… the mission the clan leader is about to announce is far too dangerous."

"No, I can't let such a young and selfless comrade die!"

As a young man who loved the village deeply, Shisui understood Uchiha Ci's passionate heart.

In moments like this, emotions could make people act rashly—taking on suicidal missions just to prove their worth.

How many good men had died for such foolish reasons?

It was truly a tragedy.

And Uchiha Shisui—

He would never allow such a tragedy to happen before his eyes!

Especially since—

Two of the upcoming mobilization missions were practically guaranteed death!
