Cherreads

Chapter 15 - Life is cruel.

I pulled out Mrs. Watson's bag and put it down on the ground as I spoke. "I found your bag while walking the shoreline. You can now get new clothes." She looked at her bag and smiled as she had wanted to get out of this dress and into something else.

"Thank you, Colt." She said with a gentle smile as she opened it. Noticing the letter, I stopped for a moment, looking at it as I nodded. "I have read it. As that was the only thing that could tell me who it belonged to. I apologize for it, but it was also one of the reasons I had made up my mind about you." Speaking those words with honesty as she looked me in the eyes.

"So you know about my husband." She said while leaning against the tree as she sat on the ground. I moved over and took a seat next to her. Wrapping an arm around her, pulling her into a side hug as I spoke.

"I only know what you wrote. Can I be honest with you, Mrs. Watson?" I said as she nodded to me before I opened my mouth.

"Fuck him, he didn't understand just how amazing you are. If he was willing to betray you after being able to win your heart, that just makes him a retard. There wasn't a day I wasn't jealous of him being married to you." I said as she looked at me.

"I don't know how your intimate life with him is, but if he was able to cheat on you. Then he is a failure of a man in all aspects, but I wouldn't say I am much different." I finished with a sigh as she thought for a moment before speaking.

"Is it because of Liliana and her friends that you say that?" She asked me.

I sighed and looked up at the sky as I thought for a moment, trying to put my thoughts into words before I finally spoke. "Yes and No, they are very much a part of it, as I have very odd connections to them, and I do want to make sure they are safe in this world for the rest of their lives. But also no, as there is another. One I have to set out to bring back." She looked at me and could tell I was being honest with her.

She had talked to Liliana and her friends; she knew that they all had different levels of feelings. The only one close to 'love' was Liliana, but she could tell the other thought highly of Colt. "Who is the other one? And why do you have to bring her back? Did she get kidnapped?" She said.

"Her name is Tina, and I had met her the day I awoke on the shore. But she was killed as I was unable to protect her. So I made a deal with the Elves, as I had gotten my hands on something they wanted, in return, they would give me a map to a place where I could bring her back to life." My words made her hug me as she ran her fingers through the hair on my head.

"I didn't know you experienced that, Colt." She said, as I just let her hug me. The vibe became awkward as we finally pulled around after a few moments. "Mrs. Watson, please get dressed. It's getting late, and we don't want to have to walk back in the dark." I said, standing up, as she smiled at me.

"Colt, I can't answer you right now. As I don't know my own feelings, but it's not like we can't escape this world ever so often." She said, moving her red hair behind her ear, blushing as I knew what her words meant, as I smiled and nodded.

As I waited for her to get dressed, a chilling gust of cold fell upon the forest as a laugh washed over the area. "What is this smell? Does this one smell the hint of love?" It said, making me quickly pull out the revolvers as I looked around.

Until I looked up and saw a being that made my blood run cold, I hadn't felt fear since I got here. But this thing made my body break out in cold sweats as it grinned. "What a kind and lovely woman, I shall take her for my bride." It said.

The moment I heard his words, I pointed the revolvers at him and yelled out. "RUN, MRS.WATSON!" Opening fire on the Demon-looking being. Lightning rounds and Fire rounds flew towards him, only to hit what looked to be a shield as he chuckled.

"You are a brave young man; most humans lose hope when faced with me. But you stood fast in the face of defeat and death." He said, landing on the ground. The Demon stood ten feet tall as I unloaded the revolvers into him, hoping to buy Mrs. Watson time, only to see her frozen in fear.

Throwing the Reovlvers down and pulling the HK416 out, I opened fire. They hit the shield, making it crack a little. "MRS. WATSON! RUN!" I yelled, finally snapping her out as she ran back towards the group.

"Young man, to be able to damage my shield. Impressive, it has been thousands of years since someone could do that. But if that is all you can do, then she is as good as mine." He said with a wicked grin as I fired the HK416 with one hand, unslung the lever-action, spun it, and chambered a round.

It broke through, but the bullet shattered afterwards as the shield fell, his wings covered his body. The 5.56 Lightning rounds and the 45-70 regular rounds landed on his wings, pushing him back as dust started to be kicked off by the Lightning rounds until I was empty in both firearms. Through the lever-action on the ground and reloading the HK416, a loud laugh erupted.

"Wonderful, human! For the first time in years, as a human, you have earned my respect! I DEMON LORD AZEL! Will play with you!" Yelled, rushing out of the dust. He was undamaged as I lifted the HK416; his fist came swinging, making me block it as I slid back.

He was ungodly powerful. I felt my joints ache in pain as he smiled, his tail wrapping around one of my legs, and lifted me sideways before slamming me on the ground. The back of my head slammed against it, making my vision go in and out as I quickly aimed the HK416 and switched to full auto. Pointing it at his face as he grinned and pulled the trigger.

A volley of Lightning 5.56 slammed into his face as he reached through it, grabbing the HK416 by the barrel and bending it before pulling it out of my hands, as he once again slammed me on the ground. Blood spat out of my mouth as he removed his tail, looking down at me. "One of the best attempts I have witnessed from your kind. But you aren't strong enough, young man." He said before bending down as he lifted me by one of my arms.

I quickly sent a kick to the side of his head as he chuckled. "That fighting spirit, not many humans have it. But you don't have the power to match it." He said as I felt his hand squeeze as my bones in my left arm shattered.

I let out a scream in pain before he threw me to the ground. My vision grew hazy as he spoke to me. "A year from now, there will be a day when humans can become demons. I will not touch that woman until that time as I take her to the top of the altar, turning her into a demon. Get stronger, fight your way through my minions, or lose her forever." He said just before my vision went out.

I kept screaming inside my mind to wake up! Unable to stop him, it was eating me alive. Until I felt something warm slowly spreading inside me, and it felt like my body was coming back as I opened my eyes quickly, sitting up.

"WHERE'S MRS. WATSON!" I yelled out as a bunch of Elves backed up quickly. Looking around, I didn't see anyone I knew.

"Where am I? And how long have I been out?" I said as one of the Elves stepped forward.

"You are in the city of Quell, which is the closest city to the forest of monsters. You have been unconscious for six days." She said.

The door opened, and Arwen walked in. "Leave us." She said before looking at me with sorrow.

"Where is Mrs. Watson?" I said, but I already knew the answer. I needed to hear it from her mouth. She bit her lip and spoke.

"Demon Lord Azel took her and told us that if you wanted to save her, you had one year. I am sorry we couldn't protect her." Arwen dropped to her knees and placed her head on the floor. I sighed before speaking.

"It wasn't your fault if I couldn't save her. Then I have no room to judge others." I said, gripping the bedsheets. Demon Lord Azel, mark my words. I will butcher you.
