Chapter 1 - The Man Who Wanted to Be Background Noise

Synopsi

In a world of magic, monsters, and kingdoms obsessed with power, there exists a man who seeks not glory… but perfection in the shadows.

Born as Lucien Valehart, a noble's son with an unremarkable reputation, he acts like a detached dreamer who avoids attention. To the world, he's the quiet background character. But beneath the mask, he commands the Abyssal Veil, an organization of assassins, mages, and spies that rule the night unseen.

To his followers, he is the Emperor of the False Night, a being who predicted the rise of the "Void Lords" ancient entities of pure chaos.

To him?

It's just a story he made up one night because it sounded cool.

Until the "fiction" he invented starts becoming terrifyingly real.

Now, Lucien must navigate between acting like an average noble idiot by day, and unknowingly shaping the fate of the world by night all while keeping his "shadow play" from spiraling into an actual apocalypse.

Chapter 1: The Man Who Wanted to Be Background Noise

Rain fell softly over the city of Valenhold, washing away the blood and whispers of another royal scandal.

Lucien Valehart leaned against a lantern post, his dark cloak fluttering in the breeze. His silver eyes reflected the moonlight calm, empty, and vaguely amused.

"Another noble duel over a woman," he murmured. "How tragic… and so conveniently distracting."

To the guards passing by, he looked like any other lazy aristocrat's son.

But behind the calm gaze was a mind that mapped every alley, every shadow, and every life within reach.

He wasn't a hero.

He wasn't a villain.

He was the noise behind the orchestra of chaos.

Lucien's double life began years ago not from some divine prophecy or tragic event but because he was bored.

In a world filled with magic academies, demon wars, and divine relics, Lucien found everything predictable. So, one day, as a child, he told himself:

> "If this world insists on having heroes and villains… then I'll be something else. I'll be the man behind the curtains."

Thus, The Abyssal Veil was born a secret order forged from orphans, mercenaries, and outcasts he "rescued." They thought he was a divine being sent by the gods. Lucien just wanted an audience for his "shadow fantasies."

Yet… the impossible kept happening.

The monsters he made up? Real.

The "Void Lords" he fabricated? Ancient records mentioned them.

And the prophecies he invented? All coming true.

"Report," Lucien said, sitting in the candlelit underground chamber.

A kneeling woman in dark armor bowed. Her name was Eira, first of the Seven Shadows his most loyal and most dangerously zealous follower.

"The Third Division has eliminated the corrupted priest, my lord. The church suspects nothing."

"Good. Maintain the illusion. The False Night must remain unseen."

Eira raised her head slightly, awe flickering in her eyes.

"As expected of you, my emperor. You already foresaw their betrayal."

Lucien hid a small smirk.

He didn't foresee anything the priest just looked suspicious last week.

"Yes," he said coolly, resting his chin on his hand. "Everything proceeds as the Abyss desires."

(I have no idea what that means, but it sounds cool, he thought.)

Later that night, as he walked alone through the rain, Lucien whispered to himself:

"I'll keep playing this role… the man in the shadows, the unseen ruler. Even if none of it's real"

Thunder cracked.

The world trembled.

And from the clouds above, a whisper echoed.

> "We finally found you… Emperor of the False Night."

Lucien froze.

The title.

The name he made up.

The fiction was calling to him.

A small smile tugged at his lips.

"Well," he said quietly, drawing a black blade from the darkness. "That's… unexpected."

Lightning struck. The shadows obeyed.

And the night laughed with him.
