Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Personal Investment

Hawks was out on patrol — wings spread wide against the bright Musutafu sky — leaving his office in the capable but often suffering hands of Kenta.

For Kenta, it was supposed to be a normal day. Paperwork. Reports. A few hero commission memos. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Until he saw it.

A thick folder sitting right in the middle of Hawks' desk, marked in bold letters:

"PERSONAL INVESTMENT."

Curiosity won. Kenta opened it… and froze.

Inside were property documents — a house deed, mortgage details, bank slips.

A fully paid home.

With a backyard big enough for a small garden.

All under Hawks' personal account.

Kenta's jaw dropped.

> "What the heck…"

He flipped through the papers again just to be sure. It wasn't an agency investment, not a mission property — just his boss, buying a cozy home like he was about to settle down.

By the time Hawks returned from patrol, Kenta was waiting at his desk, arms crossed, folder in hand.

> "You mind explaining this?"

Hawks glanced at the folder, blinked, then smiled that lazy, casual smile he always used when caught doing something suspicious.

> "Oh, that? Just an investment plan. No big deal."

Kenta gawked at him.

> "Stop that. It's definitely a big deal!"

> "Nah, really," Hawks said, shrugging like it was nothing. "Just thinking ahead, you know? Future stuff."

> "Future stuff?" Kenta echoed. "Boss, this isn't a side business — this is a house! With a garden! What are you planning to grow, tomatoes?"

Hawks smirked.

> "Maybe flowers."

Kenta groaned, dragging a hand down his face.

> "I knew it. You're planning something, and I don't like it."

> "Relax, Kenta," Hawks said, patting him on the shoulder. "It's not like I bought it for anyone in particular."

That grin. That too-innocent tone.

Kenta pointed accusingly at him.

> "You're lying."

Hawks chuckled, brushing past him toward the window.

> "Guess you'll just have to trust your boss'… investment instincts."

As Hawks took off into the sky again, Kenta sighed loudly.

> "Investment, my ass…"

He looked back at the folder, shaking his head.

> "At this point, I'm working for a romantic, not a hero."
