Chapter 81 - Chapter 80 - Wall of Ice

Entering Aemon's chambers, Cadmus and Daenerys saw a short, old man making soup in a cauldron. He stirred the metal ladle in circular motions while a delicious aroma wafted through the air, making the room cozy.

It was Clydas, one of Maester Aemon's two stewards.

Daenerys looked at the man with a touch of curiosity; he was short and ugly, with only a few hairs on his bald head. However, what caught her attention were the man's eyes. They were a slightly opaque pink.

(Note: At least in the books, Clydas's eye color is indeed pink.)

"It's the first time I've seen pink eyes." Daenerys commented, appreciating the man's eyes. The color was truly beautiful, and although the owner of the pair of eyes was not, it made him seem more pleasant in the eyes of other people.

Cadmus also looked at the man with curiosity; it was indeed a rare eye color. So rare that, besides anime universes, it was really difficult to see someone with pink eyes.

"My lord, princess." Clydas greeted both with a calm look; there was a touch of flattery in his voice. His pink eyes stared at the man and woman with a touch of respect. He was a member of the Small Council and a Targaryen princess. If he weren't Maester Aemon's steward, he wouldn't even have the chance to greet such people.

"I hope I'm not interrupting." Cadmus said with a smile and looked at old Aemon, sitting in a chair while his aged fingers glided over the pages of books. Even at a hundred years old, the man continued to accumulate knowledge.

"Maester gets focused while reading; he doesn't even notice your arrival." Clydas said with a respectful tone as he looked at Aemon; he quickly approached and gently touched the old Maester's arm.

"Sorry, knowledge is still as attractive to me as it was when I was ten." Aemon, with Clydas's help, noticed the arrival of Cadmus and Daenerys; he apologized and spoke in a gentle and calm tone.

"It's alright, we didn't want to interrupt if it wasn't urgent, Great-Uncle." Daenerys replied instead of Cadmus, her voice containing a little guilt for interrupting the old Maester's leisure time.

"Don't feel guilty, my dear granddaughter, I've already read all the books in this place; I was just reviewing everything." Aemon was proud to say that he had read many books in his long life. There were so many books that he could say he was a human library.

"However, tell me what is so urgent." Aemon asked, sitting in a chair next to the slope with Clydas's help.

Daenerys spoke about what she had just learned from Cadmus; the old Maester didn't show much surprise, just a calm expression.

"It's not surprising that he's alive; he was hard to kill with his thousands of ravens." Aemon commented with a smile. Having another living relative whom he actually knew was a good thing.

Suddenly, a sharp voice, accompanied by a raven's caw, sounded in Aemon's chambers.

"Always so emotional, Aemon."

Cadmus looked at the raven that had appeared at the window with a touch of curiosity; it was exactly a normal raven, but there was a third eye in the center of the raven's forehead.

"When you're old, people get more emotional." Aemon said with a laugh; although his voice had aged, he still recognized Brynden Rivers's voice. He had known him because Brynden was already at the Wall before his arrival.

"You're right, we get emotional when we get old." Brynden, who was controlling the Three-Eyed Raven, spoke as the raven's neck rotated almost a full turn, looking directly at Cadmus.

"You are the wizard who messed up the entire future." There was no anger in Brynden's voice, just a slight helplessness mixed with a touch of relief.

"What can I say, I like to mess with other people's plans." Cadmus said with a laugh as he looked at the raven. He had wanted to meet this man much earlier, but for some reason, Brynden didn't want to talk to him.

'A wizard on Snape's level.' That was the thought after seeing the Bloodraven. However, he presumed that Brynden's real body was much more powerful; after all, the old man had been fighting the Night King for decades. If he wasn't strong, he would have died a long time ago.

"My compliments, Bloodraven." Daenerys greeted the Great Bastard like a noble lady, took the tips of her clothes, and bowed gently.

"Hello, Daughter of Fire and Mother of Dragons." The raven's three eyes turned to Daenerys; Brynden's voice sounded gentler than cold. This girl was chosen to be the savior of the world, at least that was before Cadmus's arrival.

"I already know about your purpose." Brynden said in a calm tone, turning to Cadmus again. "Leaf, the current leader of the Children of the Forest, is bringing her Witchers and a Wight."

"Thank you for speeding up the process; it saves us a lot of unnecessary talk and time." Cadmus thanked him sincerely; it was really good to have an ally who saw the future; it saved a lot of unnecessary talk and problems.

"However, I'm curious, why didn't you contact me before? Wasn't it obvious that I wanted to make contact with Geralt's arrival?" Cadmus asked with a smile, looking at the Three-Eyed Raven.

"It was more than obvious, but I didn't want to contact you, strange wizard." Brynden spoke with a displeased tone. Cadmus's arrival basically destroyed decades of plans in just a few months. How could he not be displeased?

"That was rude, Bloodraven, you were always a good host." Cadmus said with a laugh; he knew exactly why the Three-Eyed Raven didn't want to contact him. People who saw the future had a big mental problem. They hated when things didn't happen the way they saw the future.

Brynden just snorted and looked at Daenerys. Under everyone's surprised eyes, the raven began to move its neck up and down. Then, shockingly, the tip of a sword emerged from the bird's beak!

Little by little, the sword finally revealed itself, falling to the ground with a clear and sharp metallic sound.

"Take this with you; it will help you in the future." Brynden said in a calm tone. "Don't call me again; I'm busy and can't stay long."

With that said, the raven let out a sharp and ugly cry before disappearing before everyone's eyes.

"Well, that was disgusting." Cadmus commented with a laugh, looking at the sword on the ground.

Daenerys didn't mind Cadmus's words and held the sword in her hand. Surprisingly, the sword was extremely light. It didn't even look like a sword, but rather a tree branch. The sword was about ninety centimeters long, three fingers wide. The guard was golden, and a ruby was in the center; the pommel looked like fire made of metal and gold.

The sword was beautiful, deadly, and elegant.

This sword was wielded by countless famous people in the Targaryen Dynasty.

Visenya the Warrior Queen, Maegor the Cruel, Baelon the Brave, Daemon the Rogue Prince, Aemon the Dragonknight, and Brynden the Bloodraven.

Now, this same weapon was in Daenerys's hands; how could the girl not be excited? With a trembling hand, she brandished the sword. A chair that was near the princess was cut as if it were butter.

Daenerys opened her mouth in total shock, seeing how sharp the sword was.

"It seems that Dark Sister is wielded by a Targaryen again after so long." Although his vision was terrible, he could still guess from the previous conversation what Brynden had just given to his great-niece.

"I don't think I'm fit to wield this sword; Maekar or my brother is more suitable than me." Daenerys said with a sad tone. She wasn't a warrior, something everyone who wielded Dark Sister was. She felt a little unworthy of wielding Dark Sister.

"You can learn." Cadmus spoke in a gentle tone and continued speaking. "Besides, Brynden gave the sword to you, not to someone else."

Daenerys felt more confident with Cadmus's words. Yes, she could learn and become a warrior like Visenya and Aemon the Dragonknight.

Suddenly, loud voices were heard from outside, and shocked and surprised exclamations sounded not long after.

Cadmus smiled; he looked at Daenerys and said in a cheerful tone. "It seems Geralt and his team are back with our rare specimen."

Daenerys's eyes lit up hearing this; it would be the first time she would actually see a Wight without it being in a dream.
