"And what sort of punishment would that be?" Steve asked, worry in his voice.
"You don't want to know." Percy said, his voice dropping. He thought he probably explained a little too much if the look Jason was giving him was anything to go by.
"I thought you manage to escape his punishments since he seems drunk half the time and doesn't really seem to care about anything." Jason said to Percy. Even though he never is actually drunk because of Zeus's punishment, he does still act drunk.
"Surprisingly, I managed to dodge his more extreme punishments, but he threatened to drop me from a really tall building when he caught me trying to sneak out of camp when I was younger." The Avengers were worried. They could see that Percy seemed to get in trouble a lot and they wondered if that was one of the reasons Percy had more scars than Jason. They wondered what Mr. D's full name was, but they knew they weren't going to get a full name out of these teens, so they spent the rest of dinner in relative silence.
After dinner, Steve and Natasha escorted Jason and Percy to their rooms.
"Remember, the doors will remain locked until the morning, when someone is up and can watch you," Natasha stated.
"Thanks for dinner," Percy replied, and he and Jason walked into the rooms, the doors shutting behind them and the locks engaging.
When Steve and Nat made it back to the common room, everyone was still waiting.
"Peter, are you staying the night?" Tony asked.
"Is that okay Mr. Stark?" he asked.
"Did you ask your aunt?" he replied. Peter took out his phone and shot a quick text to his aunt, asking if he could stay at a friend's place. The text came back almost immediately.
"She said it was fine, since I am staying for the weekend anyway. As long as I still get my homework done?" Peter stated, smiling.
"Then shouldn't you be getting to bed yourself?" Steve asked, hinting that he wanted to talk to the adults. He still didn't feel right that Peter was Spiderman, or the fact that he went out almost every night to go on patrol.
"Umm yeah I guess I should-" he got up to leave.
"Wait" Clint said, Peter froze. "Peter, stay?"
"Clint I don't-" Steve began.
"No, Peter should know what's going on. I think it might help us gain Jackson's and Grace's trust," Natasha said backing up Clint's thinking.
"Think about it. The two of them started opening up when Peter showed up, and they seemed to relax a little. I think seeing someone close to their age helps, especially if the adults in their lives made them into weapons. It is understandable that they wouldn't trust adults." Clint added. Steve sighed and motioned for Peter to sit down. They explained everything that had happened, starting with Percy's capture to bringing the two teens to the compound.
"Wow okay, so what do you want me to do?" Peter asked.
"Befriend them," Natasha stated. Peter frowned. He didn't like lying to people and pretending to be their friend to get information out of them, that just wasn't who he was.
"Peter just be yourself" Tony spoke seeing Peters face and knowing what he was probably thinking
"I will try." He said meekly. Peter tuned out the rest of the conversation, where Steve was going over the plan for tomorrow. All he could think about were the two teenagers he just met, wondering how they got their powers, wondering if they were like him. They didn't seem evil, they seemed like they were stuck in a situation they didn't want to be in and were trying to make the best of it. He felt like he could trust them… a knot formed in his stomach when he thought about the idea that he was supposed to be their friend to get information out of them. He didn't like that idea; he wasn't a spy. He wondered if he could actually be friends with them, it would be nice to have other teenage heroes around, even though they were a few years older than him they were closer to him in age then the Avengers, who also hadn't become heroes until they were adults. He smiled to himself. He wouldn't pretend to be their friend, he was going to be their friend and then maybe they could help each other out.
