Chapter 28 - 28

The assistants then left the room, leaving Connors alone in his thoughts.

"I've tried this experiment so many times, and the result is still the same... The theory has proven that Peter's idea is correct, but why does it still fail?" Dr. Connors sighed helplessly.

Just as Professor Connors was feeling dejected, an electronic voice suddenly rang out: "Subject No. 7 is doing fine. His tissues are growing rapidly, and his body temperature and blood pressure are normal."

Upon hearing this, Connors immediately stood up and ran to the container containing white mouse No. 7. He stared at the changes happening to the little white mouse with wide eyes. He saw that the broken leg of the white mouse actually showed a slight tendency to grow.

Connors' eyes immediately showed surprise. Although the serum injected into these experimental subjects was basically the same, there were slight differences.

Connors hurriedly looked for information on how to make the serum for Subject No. 7, intending to conduct more experiments.

In the subsequent experiments, all the mice survived, and the disabled parts of the mice grew at a considerable rate.

Seeing this situation, Connors was immediately very happy, and even felt a little crazy for the success that he had achieved after years of hard work.

However, Connors immediately calmed down. He knew very well that medical departments were extremely strict in examining this kind of regenerative biotechnology, because this unknown technology could not guarantee whether it would have strong negative effects.

We must first record whether these mice have any abnormal reactions or side effects before we can apply the serum to humans. Currently, this serum is only half successful, and it will take many more experiments and time to improve.

Inside the Osborne Group the next afternoon.

"I heard the experiment was successful." Tim, the CEO of Osborne Group, asked in Dr. Connors' office.

"Yes, now both experimental mice are very healthy. Peter is a genius. Without his theory, my experiment would not progress so quickly." Dr. Connors showed an excited look and gave Peter Parker some advice.

"Peter? Harry's friend? I see. I think we can start human experiments now." Tim nodded. He had some impression of the son of the Osborn Group, the friend brought by Harry Osborn.

However, he was still not satisfied with Dr. Connors' progress. What he needed now was human data, not mouse data.

"What? No! This is absolutely not possible! We just succeeded in the experiment on mice not long ago! We haven't recorded the follow-up observation data yet, and we don't know whether it will cause harm to the human body!" Dr. Connors rejected it outright after hearing this.

"And even if the subsequent observation records show that the mice do not have any abnormalities or side effects, we still need more test data to verify that this serum is harmless. Where can we find volunteers for the experiment now?!" Dr. Connors felt that he seemed to be too excited and hurriedly explained that he did not want to conduct human experiments hastily because it could easily lead to irreversible and terrible consequences.

The slightest mistake could ruin a person's life! Or even bring death to others, which was not what he wanted.

"Volunteer? Just go to the Disabled Veterans Hospital. Doctor, you have to understand that we don't have time! Norman Osborn's life is about to come to an end!" Tim said coldly, his cold words revealing cruelty and determination.

"No, you can't do this! This serum has not been tested and cannot work on the human body at all. You are committing a crime by conducting human experiments without permission!" Dr. Connors slammed the table and shouted angrily.

"No, they are volunteers. We didn't force them. Doctor, I think there's something wrong with your mentality now. It's not suitable for you to continue the experiment. You can go back and have a vacation now. All expenses will be reimbursed by the Osborne Group." Tim said lightly.

Chapter 35: Mutation

Tim glanced at Dr. Connors, who was in shock and anger, without much emotion. However, the assistant outside the door ran in and said a few words to Tim, which made his expression change and he stood up immediately.

"Dr. Connors, I hope you can take more rest during this period. When you have figured it out, you can continue to serve." Tim said lightly, and then hurried out.

Tim's heart was beating fast at this moment, because he heard from some people that Captain America Steve Rogers from more than 70 years ago had returned from the Arctic and brought a blood sample of Steve Rogers.

He was going to tell Norman Osborn the good news.

Norman Osborn is now suffering from a family genetic disease, but he is still concentrating on studying the formula of the super soldier serum obtained from the military. Now with the blood sample of Captain America Steve Rogers, it is believed that Norman Osborn can develop the super soldier serum before he is completely defeated by the disease.

As for the matter regarding this serum, it can be carried out simultaneously. After all, it is a good thing to have two things that can change humans.

"Take this serum to the hospital for disabled veterans. No matter what method you use, you must find volunteers." Tim said to his assistant. He was going to see Norman Osborn now and tell him about Captain America. He didn't have time to deal with this matter personally.

Meanwhile, Dr. Connors sat dejectedly in his office, having sat there for who knows how long, with a test serum placed before him. How could he conduct human trials when the test serum hadn't yet been proven to be completely reliable?

Even if human trials are to be conducted, they must be conducted on volunteers who have signed their consent, not on disabled veterans who are kept in the dark.

Before becoming a scientist, he was a military doctor and his arm was amputated due to a bomb. His original intention was to help these disabled veterans, not to harm them.

Dr. Connors was in great torment, as if he had made a difficult decision. Connors picked up the serum in front of him and prepared to experiment on himself.

Science requires a bit of dedication! Dr. Connors gritted his teeth and prepared to inject the serum into his body.

"Oh, no! Doctor, are you crazy?" Just as Dr. Connors was about to inject the serum into his body, Peter suddenly appeared in Dr. Connors' office.

Peter snatched Dr. Connors' serum and said in a bad tone: "Doctor, there may be something wrong with our serum."

"Doctor, I think you'd better come with me to take a look now." Peter pulled Dr. Connors to the observation room of the biological experiment without any explanation.

The iron cage that originally held the two mice in the lab had been destroyed. The table was a mess, with faint traces of blood visible.

Gwen stood aside, still looking somewhat frightened but not steady, and was obviously very frightened.

"Doctor, I think you'd better take a look at this first!" Peter came to the side with a serious face and some doubts in Dr. Connors.

The corpse of a little white mouse was lying there quietly, and next to it was a mouse-shaped lizard. This mouse-shaped lizard was five times larger than an ordinary little white mouse.

The thick leg muscles, sharp claws and scarlet, bloodthirsty eyes all represent its ferocity at the moment.

"Oh my God! What is this!" Dr. Connors couldn't help but ask with his eyes wide open when he saw the guy in front of him.

The rat-like lizard was kept in a sturdier iron cage, usually used to hold larger animals such as pit bulls.

"This is a white mouse we experimented on before. It suddenly mutated and turned into this appearance just now." Peter looked quite solemn and his tone was a little frustrated. Obviously, the experiment he was proud of had undergone such a big change, which was absolutely depressing.

"It's become stronger and more powerful. And bloodier. It bit its companion to death. Doctor, I think our experiment has failed." Peter said a little frustrated, but he soon became excited again and said, "But Doctor, now that we have this guy, we may be able to study why this mutation occurred and what part is wrong. As long as we eliminate these mutation factors, perhaps our experiment will be successful!"

"Oh, no!" Dr. Connors was struck by lightning when he saw the rat-shaped lizard. He didn't hear much of what Peter said afterwards. Suddenly, he thought of the serum that Tim took away.

He quickly pressed Peter's shoulder and said, "God bless us, I hope it's not too late. We must stop him!"

"Stop what, Doctor?" Peter was a little confused and didn't understand what Dr. Connors was saying.

"Tim, he took away a serum. He plans to use this serum for human trials. We have to tell him the result quickly. I hope it's not too late. I hope we won't create a monster." Dr. Connors had seen a lot of storms after all. After being shocked for a moment, he strode towards his office and explained to Peter.

"What? How dare he! The serum hasn't even been successful in animal tests! How can it work on humans! Are they crazy?" Peter felt an unprecedented anger because he had a hand in this serum.

If innocent people are killed because of this serum, then he is also responsible!

It's like letting the bandit go and then the bandit beat up his uncle. This is an unforgivable sin!

"This is Dr. Connors, put me through to Mr. Tim." Dr. Connors dialed the platform of the company's switchboard.

"Sorry, Dr. Connors, Mr. Tim is visiting Mr. Norman and cannot answer your call at the moment." It was Tim's secretary who answered the phone.

"Regarding the serum that Tim took from me, do you know where it is now? This serum is extremely dangerous. Never use it on human experiments, otherwise it will create a very scary monster!" said Dr. Connors.

"I'm sorry, Dr. Connors, I don't know where this serum went. I will inform Mr. Tim when he comes out." Tim's secretary said.

Dr. Connors hung up the phone, looking worried. Peter asked, "Doctor, how is it?"

"Tim is visiting Mr. Norman and cannot answer the phone. The serum is nowhere to be found. We can only pray that Tim has not yet used it on the human body." Dr. Connors said helplessly.
