Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The First Battle (Part 1)

Under a tree in the distance, Jack watched the players surrounded nearby, his brow slightly raised.

When he first saw the Typhlosion, he thought someone else, like him, had fortunately obtained a system. This made him hesitant to come out and challenge people for money, preferring to first understand the situation. But now, hearing the Boy with Glasses mention the existence of Closed Beta Players, he let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, he didn't have any cheats; this thing was still unique to him.

"Pidgey ~"

At this moment, Mew, on Jack's shoulder, cried out. Jack looked over in confusion. Having reverted to human form, he no longer understood what Mew's Growl meant.

"Mew, you should be able to communicate with me using Telepathy, right?" Jack asked. As Mewtwo, created from Mew's genes, could speak using Telepathy, it would be unreasonable if Mew couldn't.

"Yes, Master."

An ethereal and pleasant voice echoed in Jack's mind, making him love Mew even more.

"Master, are they bad people? I hate people who use Pokémon to bully others."

Mew, in its Pidgey form, tilted its head and asked Jack. Hearing Mew say this, Jack's eyes lit up, and he quickly said, "Yes, Mew, would you like to teach them a lesson with me? People like them deserve a good lesson."

"Yes, Master."

"Very good, Mew. Then, later, you will fight them according to my commands." Jack's lips curved upward. With Mew by his side, he didn't feel he would lose to those Closed Beta Players.

After all, no matter how powerful their Pokémon were, could they be as powerful as a Legendary Pokémon? And it was Mew, known as the ancestor of Pokémon. Even if Mew wasn't as skilled in combat as Mewtwo, it would absolutely be easy to utterly defeat them.

Thinking of this, Jack decisively walked towards them. However, his steps retreated after taking just two steps. He hid behind a tree and used a skill to transform himself into a middle-aged man.

"Master, why are you doing this?" Mew was puzzled.

"I'm doing this to better rescue people," Jack said indifferently. "Mew, I'm telling you, saving people also requires methods and strategies because human hearts are complex. If I were to chase them away in my original appearance with you, what if someone recognized you as Mew? Afterwards, there would definitely be a lot of trouble, so using a false identity is best. Even if they figure it out, it won't affect me at all."

Mew tilted its head and blinked.

"You'll understand later."

Jack smiled and said no more, picking up a stone and throwing it at the Bayleef that was chasing people away not far off.

"Bayleef! Bayleef!"

Bayleef, whose head had been hit, turned to see a middle-aged man with a Pidgey walking towards it. It immediately let out two angry cries, then extended its Vine Whip.

"Pidgey, Hurricane!"

Flapping its wings, Mew flew up from Jack's shoulder, first batting away Bayleef's Vine Whip with a wing, then flying above Bayleef and rapidly beating its wings. Before long, four powerful storms swept towards Bayleef from all directions, giving Bayleef no chance to dodge.

"Bayleef!"

Bayleef cried out in pain! It immediately fell to the ground under the Hurricane skill, losing its ability to battle. Flying-type moves had a natural advantage against a Grass-type Pokémon like it.

The battle between Mew and Bayleef naturally attracted the attention of the three Closed Beta Players. Especially the young man who held the dominant position among the three. Seeing his Bayleef defeated by a Pidgey that hadn't even evolved, he was instantly furious and waved his hand for Typhlosion to go forward. He then retrieved Bayleef into a Poké Ball, looked at Jack, and said coldly, "Uncle, are you trying to be a busybody?"

"Hahahaha, I'm just excited for a challenge." Jack clapped his hands loudly, acting like an old mischievous man, "You three are so powerful, can you have a match with me too?"

"You want to have a bounty battle with us?" The young man raised an eyebrow. He had thought this uncle was here to stop them from robbing. But this was good too; he hadn't quite satisfied his craving for Pokémon battles just now.

"Alright, Uncle, how big of a bounty battle do you want?" The young man said with a smile.

Jack spread his hands: "Everything. Let's bet all our money. If you win, I'll give you all my money. If I win, you give me all your money."

The young man frowned and said, "Are you sure?"

"Absolutely!"

The three looked at each other, and finally, the girl next to the young man spoke: "Then tell us how much money you have first. If all you have combined is not even..."

"Don't ask me how much money I have." The girl's words were cut off by Jack, who interrupted with a confident air, "Because I am a man who will take on three of you at once. I'm asking if you dare?"

The three looked at each other again; Jack's words had left them a bit bewildered.

"Could this person be trying to trick us? How could there be such a good thing in this world?" The girl said cautiously.

"Alex is right. I suspect that person might be a Closed Beta Player like us. It's possible his companions are hiding in some corner, ready for a double-cross." The man among the three, who had been silent, spoke up.

The young man listened, then turned his head and looked around.

"You don't even dare to fight three against one? Are you men? Do you have any guts? If you still don't dare, then all three of you come at once, and I'll just use one Pidgey to fight." At this moment, Jack spoke again, his gaze fixed on the young man in the middle.

After all, it was a young man's temper, prone to getting carried away. As soon as Jack spoke, the young man immediately couldn't stand it and angrily said.

"Bring it on. Anyone who loses and doesn't admit it is a coward."

After speaking, the young man turned to his companions and said, "You guys aren't allowed to help. Watch how I use my Typhlosion to roast his Pidgey and eat it."

"Typhlosion, Sunny Day!"

Typhlosion let out a roar, and the flames around its neck instantly became even hotter than before. It was as if they were even more dazzling than the sun. The surrounding temperature also instantly rose to a point where it could roast a person.

"Typhlosion, Flamethrower."

After the temperature rose, Typhlosion began its attack under the young man's command. A Flamethrower, even more intense than before, spewed from Typhlosion's mouth. Boosted by the Sunny Day skill, this Flamethrower was even more powerful. If it hit Pidgey, it would definitely fall instantly and lose its ability to battle.

"Pidgey, use Quick Attack to dodge, rush to its head, and gather energy in your mouth." Jack commanded calmly.

"Pidgey ~"

A Z-shaped flash of electricity passed, and Mew easily dodged the incoming Flamethrower, rushing towards Typhlosion. Its eyes were sharp, like a proud god of war, and in an instant, it arrived above Typhlosion's head. At the same time, a dark energy orb condensed in its mouth.

"Pidgey, use Hyper Beam."

"What? How is this possible!"

The young man, who was wondering what skill Pidgey was condensing in its mouth, was suddenly shocked when he heard the words Hyper Beam.

"Typhlosion, dodge quickly!"

Typhlosion heard the command and was about to jump away from its spot, but it was too late. Facing Mew, which had transformed into Pidgey, its reaction speed was still a little too slow. A beam of dark energy, accompanied by intense noise, shot out from Pidgey's mouth. The next second, a violent explosion erupted, and thick smoke filled the surroundings. No one knew the outcome for Typhlosion. Only after a gust of wind blew past did they see Typhlosion lying on the ground, unable to move, with all the flames on its neck extinguished.
