Chapter 298 - Chapter 298 The Correct Way to Use Shalltear

The Overlord World was a world where multiple races coexisted.

In the forests outside human settlements lived many monsters like Goblins and Ogres.

Usually, these monsters did not invade human territories on a large scale, but sometimes, for survival, these monsters would attack villages on the forest's edge.

The mission that Kenichi, Erza, and the group had accepted was precisely to eliminate the low-tier monsters loitering at the forest's edge.

"Isn't this mission too easy?"

After casually cutting down an Ogre, Erza sheathed the long sword in her hand, glanced at the numerous Goblin and Ogre corpses on the ground, and spoke with a sense of dissatisfaction.

Hearing Erza's complaint, Wendy forced a smile and comforted her: "Hehe, there's no helping it. The person at the Adventurer Guild said earlier that Copper-ranked adventurers can only take on low-risk missions like this."

"Sigh, it's really boring. The total commission for these monsters probably isn't even enough to buy one sword!"

Regarding Erza's words, Wendy just kept smiling wryly and didn't refute.

After all, what Erza said was true.

The commission for this mission was calculated based on the number of monsters killed.

1 copper coin for each low-tier monster killed.

Currently, the number of low-tier monsters slain by Erza and Kagura was only about 30 or so.

So the total commission for this mission was only a little over 30 copper coins.

One must know that staying one night in a shared room at an ordinary inn in the royal capital cost over 10 copper coins, while a slightly more upscale inn cost 1 gold coin. (A/N: 1 gold coin = 20 silver coins = 400 copper coins)

A little over 30 copper coins was far too little.

'Do I also have to be like the Skeletal Overlord, constantly complaining about being poor?'

Hearing Wendy and Erza's conversation, Kenichi couldn't help but thought to himself.

"Let's look around a bit more, see if there are any other monsters."

Kagura sheathed the sword in her hand and prepared to go deeper into the forest.

But just as Kagura turned, Kenichi stopped her.

"Kagura, no need to look further."

Hearing Kenichi's words, Kagura stopped in her tracks and looked at Kenichi with confusion.

"Are you planning to use magic to gather the monsters from the forest?"

Erza looked at Kenichi and asked with a strange expression.

Gathering 'monsters' wasn't something Kenichi was doing for the first time.

Back in the Future Lucy's timeline, in order to wipe out tens of thousands of dragons in one fell swoop, Kenichi used Irene's [Universe One] magic.

With [Universe One], the dragons originally scattered across the continent were all gathered together.

In the end, Kenichi summoned a large number of meteorites, instantly eliminating more than half of the dragons.

Now, hearing Kenichi's words, Erza couldn't help but recall this.

"No need for such trouble!"

Kenichi answered Erza and immediately summoned Shalltear from the separate dimension.

"Great Master, what are your orders?"

Shalltear, in her crimson gothic lolita outfit, emerged from the separate dimension, lightly pinched the hem of her skirt with both hands, and bowed respectfully to Kenichi.

"Shalltear, what kinds of familiars do you have?"

Hearing this question from Kenichi, the previously puzzled Erza, Kagura, and Wendy all had a thought.

"Kenichi, are you planning to use the monsters summoned by Shalltear to pad the numbers?"

Erza glanced at Shalltear, then asked Kenichi.

Back when Kenichi fought Shalltear, Erza, Kagura, and the group had witnessed Shalltear summoning a sky-blotting swarm of vampire bats with their own eyes.

Now, Kenichi summoned Shalltear and asked about her familiars.

How could Erza, Kagura, and the others not know what Kenichi was planning?

"The familiars summoned by Shalltear are considered monsters anyway, and the Adventurer Guild hasn't specified the types of monsters."

Hearing Kenichi's deadpan response, Erza and Wendy found themselves momentarily unable to refute.

"Hehe, they're monsters all the same. This way, we don't have to spend time searching."

Wendy laughed softly, as if trying to console herself.

Shalltear herself didn't understand what Erza and Wendy were talking about.

She just glanced at Erza and Wendy in confusion, then turned her gaze back to Kenichi. Placing her pale finger on her cheek, she showed an unbearably cute thinking expression.

After a few seconds, she answered: "Familiars... there's the Einherjar, Vampire Brides, Vampire Bats..."

"I'm not very proficient in Necromancy magic, so I can only summon some low-level Skeletons."

Reaching this point, Shalltear clenched her fists in front of her chest, as if complaining about her own incompetence: "If I were more proficient in Necromancy, I could summon Death Knights for you, Master. Ainz-sama!"

'Ainz-sama?'

Hearing Shalltear's familiar verbal tic, Kenichi's mouth twitched, then he interrupted her: "No need for Death Knights. You just need to summon the lowest-tier Skeleton Warriors."

"Just Skeleton Warriors is enough?"

Shalltear asked Kenichi, somewhat puzzled.

She knew Kenichi's strength.

In her view, low-level Skeleton Warriors couldn't be of much help to Kenichi.

But since it was Kenichi's order, Shalltear had no choice but to comply.

"[4th Tier Summon Undead]!"

Shalltear raised her pale hand. The next second, a huge crimson magic circle appeared on the empty ground ahead.

Accompanied by a flash of crimson light, Skeleton Warriors emerged from the magic circle one after another.

Soon, hundreds, even thousands, of Skeleton Warriors appeared in the sight of Kenichi, Erza, and the others.

These Skeleton Warriors weren't equipped with magical gear.

As Shalltear had said, they were merely the lowest-tier Skeletons.

However, looking at these low-tier Skeletons before him, Kenichi's face was full of satisfaction.

"Master, what do you need these Skeletons for?"

After the Skeleton Warriors had fully emerged from the magic circle, Shalltear turned and asked Kenichi.

Kenichi just gave a sheepish smile and didn't answer.

After all, how could he tell Shalltear that he wanted to use these Skeletons to exchange for money?

"Shalltear, you can go back for now. I'll call you if I need you next time."

"As you command!"

Then, Kenichi sent Shalltear back to the separate dimension again.

After Shalltear left, Kagura and Erza glanced at each other, then charged towards the mass of Skeleton Warriors with their swords drawn.

Whoosh-

Whoosh-

Immediately, a large number of sword flashes flickered through the air, and those Skeleton Warriors fell one after another like harvested wheat.
