Chapter 1 - BECCA'S CASE

PROLOGUE

Hey guys!! My name's Timmy. I'm 19.

I was a student of Hughson's University studying criminology before I was framed alongside my two friends; David (aka Prof) and Denny for theft, probably because we were black.

Aunt Grace, my foster mum told me to come back to Nigeria alongside my friends to start a new life after she heard about the incident. She has a pretty neice named Becca; who happened to be my girlfriend.

While Aunt Grace went on a business trip to London, she left Becca in our custody. Yesterday morning, Becca set out to go and study with her friends at her school campus (She lives around her university but she also has an apartment in campus) and said she'd be back by evening. Two days have passed since then and she hasn't returned.

BECCA'S CASE

We used 23 days to solve Becca's case but we couldn't solve it before Aunt Grace returned.

So now before we start, while we were in school abroad, we formulated some codes we use when we want to go on an "unofficial" investigation like this one. The codes are used based on individuals speciality (the one that matches our personality). And yes! We're actually five in number but the remaining two are ghost members because you hardly see them with us. Our tech-man and our connection man. Bach to the codes .They are;

#code 9

Normal-neutral approach

#code 8

Drone tailing

#code 7

Physical tailing (done by our ghost members)

#code 6

Criminal approach

#code 5

Using close ones of the culprit

#code 4

Dealer man

#code 3

Trusted man

#code 2

Seduction

#code 1

Involving government officials (when the case includes arms and threatens a lot of lives)

Having said the codes, we never used code 1, 2, 7, and 8 in our previous investigations while we were doing our IT then at Hughson.

Like I said earlier, we used 23 days to solve Becca's case. Let's go!!!

#Day 1.

We realized that Becca was missing two days after she left for school. So, we started our investigation two days after we realized she was missing. She left home for school on the 5th of April, we realized she was missing on the 8th, and started our investigation on the 10th. Leaving us 20 days to find her before Aunt Grace returns to Nigeria.

So on the first day of our investigation, we went to Becca's apartment in campus. We found two other girls there; Favour and Isabel. They were Becca's roommates. We had a little chit chat with them while still asking them questions about Becca's whereabouts before the last time they saw her. I was already tired from the long stroll and observation of their behavior (of course psychology is key to our investigation)so I decided to sit on Becca's bed. As I sat, I felt a book on the bed, so I brought it out of the well laid bed and it was Becca's diary.

#1 CHARACTERISTICS OF BECCA.

She keeps journals and always update her diary everyday.

Even though Favour and Isabel behaved totally normal like they knew nothing, my instincts still told me that there was something they weren't saying to us. We exchanged contacts with them and told them to call us if they notice anything suspicious. Prof went outside while Denny and I was still questioning Becca's roommates. Oh and sorry, the code we used today was #999.

So before we came out of the apartment, Prof called us and told us not to pass the same route. We didn't know why but we knew he had his reasons for saying so, so we did as he said. I took the right, and Denny took the left then I met with Prof upfront and he told me his observations about an abandoned car in front of Becca's apartment which all made sense. When we got home, we came up with our suspect list based on the informations we gathered today and the observation from Becca's diary.

#SUSPECT LIST

* FAVOUR

*ISABEL

Moving on, from Becca's diary, it was updated until the 7th of April; that is three days ago. And according to Favour and Isabel, they said she left the apartment the next day after they finished studying and she said she was going home. That testimony didn't seem to quite add up to me because of Becca is having an unexpected change in plans or she having a good day or a bad day, she always calls me or text me. So how come she left home on the 6th and she didn't take her diary with her?? After a lot of considerations, we decided that they were suspects. Then again, we saw some strange words in her diary, and a page was ripped out.

#THE STRANGE WORDS

*LABOJI

*XELA

*PHISCHROETR

Well idk what these are supposed to mean but we'll find out later. This is all for day one.

#Day 2.

So today, we set out with #code #997 (we're using 7 for the first time. I'm excited) after understanding Becca's side of the story as written in her diary, we had two things to solve first. What those strange spelling means and the content of the ripped page. These two things will connect the whole story for it to make proper sense. We went to her apartment today again. Knowing that someone was in the abandoned car yesterday, we observed it again today and this time, they were three inside. Si I'd love to guess that they were prepared for a 3v3 fight. Prof operated by code 7, Denny and I still operated on code 99 each.

We needed to find evidence of bakers whereabout from her apartment. So we came up with a plan to go to apartment disguise of packing luggages with hopes of finding clues or evidence as it all made sense since they had only one more paper to finish the session. We told Favor and Isabel and she wasn't feeling well so she told us to help her pack her luggages. We could tell from their body movements that that message sent a chill to their spines but they totally hid it in their facial expressions.( Thank God for psychology once again). They couldn't resist because it will raise our suspicion so they had no choice than to allow us to pack her luggages. While we were at it, Isabel received a phone call and wanted to leave the room but Denny stopped her with asking her for one of Becca's possession. This time, they couldn't hold it anymore and they started saying if Isabel doesn't go outside, they'll both die.

Well, we weren't really scared of the threat. Firstly,we already were used to walking with our pocket knives, and we know how to fight a close combat with someone using gun.

We told the both of them to go into the bathroom for safety, we brought out our pocket knives and got ready to attack. Prof called us and told us the guys were coming in already anf that he would attack from behind. I used Isabel's phone to calm the number again and told the person on the phone that they're in our custody. Soon enough, they barged in, forcing the door open with guns in their hands. They entered and saw Denny sitted on the bed with his innocent and baby looking face, they let their guard down and were asking for the person that called with Isabel's phone. Denny told them that maybe they entered the wrong apartment because he's the only one staying there. Without wasting too much time, Prof stabbed the last man on the hand he was using to hold the guy, Denny kicked the balls of the one standing in his front and stabbed his thighs and his two shoulders, while I came out of the kitchen and spilled hot oil on the three of them together. We tied them together and took them home to Aunt Graces' place, then we also took Isabel and Favour along. That was all we did for today. The combat made us stressed out.
