Chapter 80 - Chapter 80 Coronation and Investiture

Viserysgrad stood on Viserys Hills, home to the Royal Rhaella Grand Sept.

Viserys Targaryen had named this sept after Queen Rhaella to honor his mother.

Viserys's relationship with the The Mad King was not particularly close, and he was only moderately familiar with Rhaegar.

After all, the The Mad King was mentally unstable, and Rhaegar's small family mostly resided on Dragonstone.

The only person who showed Viserys the most care and left a deep impression was his loving mother.

Inside the Rhaella Grand Sept, before the statues of the Seven Gods—the Father, the Mother, the Warrior, the Maiden, the Smith, and so on—

Umber Andalos, the Grand Septon of Viserysgrad, dressed in a silver-threaded white robe, began to quote from "The Seven-Pointed Star." Umber's fortunes had also greatly improved.

He was one of Viserys's original supporters, and thus he soared, rising from a wild septon to a Grand Septon.

On both sides of the Rhaella Grand Sept were Andal knights, elders, and even neighboring Rhoynar guests, including the Black Pearl of Braavos.

Some commoners flocked in, and even more commoners outside the sept cheered Viserys's name.

"The Father reached into the heavens and plucked seven holy stars," Bishop Umber proclaimed, his voice clear and resonant, "He placed the holy stars, one by one, upon the head of Hugo, King of the Hills, forging a brilliant crown."

"The Maiden brought a lady as supple as a weeping willow, with eyes like deep blue ponds, and Hugo swore to marry her. So the Mother made her fertile, and the Crone foretold she would bear the king forty-four strong sons," other septons shouted in unison.

"The Warrior made them strong and mighty, and the Smith forged a steel armor for each of them." This was the sound of praise from the Andal knights and smiths.

Finally came the voices of the Andal elders of the Secret Council, and the voices of the boys and girls scattering petals: "andals, the great kingdom of the hills. The light of the Seven Gods shines upon us once more, allowing the kingdom of the andals to prosper. Hugo's dream has once again taken root, and from today, we welcome a new King of Andalusia."

Viserys ascended the high platform amidst the clamor, with Donal, Hugo, Argos, and Syrio as his escorts.

Viserys wore a black velvet robe, with a sword and a dragonbone dagger on his sword belt, and the roaring three-headed dragon of Targaryen Family on his black cloak.

Under the gaze of all, today was Viserys's second coronation.

His first coronation occurred when the kingdom was crumbling, performed by Queen Rhaella, and it was a very makeshift affair, seemingly lacking much legal authority.

This time, however, in Andals, it was much more formal and solemn.

Amidst the hymns, Viserys seemed truly to be imbued with a divine aura, illuminating the sept.

The Black Pearl and Quilo watched the vigorous and heroic Viserys, only able to muse that the game of thrones was indeed unpredictable.

A pitiful, doomed prince had the cunning and fortune to rise again.

"The coronation ceremony officially begins!" Bishop Umber declared loudly, and the sound of brass trumpets followed, signaling the audience to be solemn.

First came the anointing with holy oil.

Viserys sat on the coronation chair, and Grand Septon Umber poured holy oil from a golden seven-pointed star flask onto a coronation spoon, then applied the holy oil to Viserys's hands, chest, and head.

The holy oil was primarily made from a certain wood oil, mixed with cardamom, local Andal spices, and so on.

"I will treat my subjects with justice!"

"I will nourish my subjects with benevolence!"

"I will protect my subjects with courage!"

"I will care for the old, the weak, women, and children with compassion."

Viserys successively took seven oaths and then received seven blessings; this ritual was somewhat similar to a wedding ceremony, as the andals revered the number seven.

Until the hymns rang out again, no one questioned the king's identity and status.

"Long live King Viserys!"

"Long live King Viserys!"

The sept was filled with an atmosphere of joy, sobbing, and clamor. How many years had it been? andals finally had its own king again.

The suffering andals had once again awaited their kingdom.

Quilo's gaze swept over the weeping andals, men and women, old and young.

Their tears evoked mixed emotions, but also indicated that Viserys had won the hearts of the Andals.

"Viserys has established himself in Andals and gained the support of the people; his power is not small," Quilo thought, this was the power of the oppressed uniting and erupting.

But Quilo was not entirely wary, for Viserys's Kingdom of Andals faced encirclement from both The Usurper and the Dothraki barbarians, and the true king would also undergo the trial of blood and fire.

Under these circumstances, the clever Viserys would not fall out with Braavos.

"I present the soil and wine of Andals to the King." The white-haired Andal elder presented sour wine and soil from various regions.

"They will be preserved within the Grand Sept and illuminate my path," Viserys solemnly pledged.

Viserys felt that there should also be several swords representing the royal family—swords of secular justice, spiritual justice, and judgment—but at present, there was not a single Valyrian sword, so he could only simplify the ceremony.

"Crown him!"

Ser Roland Lake, in shining silver armor, also appeared on the high platform, holding the golden circlet crown inlaid with seven gems, which came from King Jaehaerys the Conciliator.

The young Viserys stood up, and the weathered Ser Roland solemnly placed the crown upon Viserys's head.

"Wearing the crown bestowed by the Seven Gods, Viserys Targaryen III of Targaryen Family, you are now the King of Andalusia, King of the andals," Bishop Umber solemnly proclaimed.

"Long live King Viserys!" The identical cry of praise rang out a second time, echoing throughout the entire hall.

"Long live King Viserys!" The Black Pearl also smiled and called out Viserys's name, looking as if he truly possessed a heroic spirit.

"I accept this glory, not for myself alone. I will fight to the end for the welfare and freedom of all andals. Will you follow me?" Viserys, wearing the crown, asked in a clear voice.

"We want Viserys!"

"We will!"

"His Majesty Viserys!"

"His Majesty Viserys!" All the andals shouted like well-trained pets, stretching out their hands and clapping.

The atmosphere reached its peak at that moment, and at this very instant, Viserys was the unique King of Andals.

"Now, the second act of the coronation ceremony, the enfeoffment ceremony," the Grand Septon shouted loudly.

"Rhaenys, Daenerys, both of you step forward," Viserys commanded.

Rhaenys and Daenerys both stepped forward, both wearing black velvet dresses with ruby-encrusted necklaces around their necks.

"My niece, Rhaenys Targaryen, daughter of my brother Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Princess Elia Martell, step forward. I enfeoff you as the First Princess of Andals." Viserys pressed the blade of his sword onto Rhaenys's shoulder.

"Thank you very much, Your Majesty! I will always be loyal to you, today and every day," Rhaenys said formally with a curtsy. She looked at Viserys; Rhaenys had a distinctive face.

She felt that Viserys was no longer as casual as usual, but wore the veil of a monarch.

"My sister Daenerys Targaryen, my full-blooded sister, step forward. I enfeoff you as the Second Princess of Andals."

Viserys gently pressed the blade of his sword onto Daenerys's shoulder, the little girl with silver-gold hair and violet eyes.

Daenerys didn't quite understand, but she followed Rhaenys in curtsying to express her gratitude, thanking the King for his grace.

Daenerys only knew that her brother Viserys was moving from side to side, and she seemed to be living more like a princess now.

"Bishop Umber Andalos, step forward. I appoint you as the Grand Septon of Viserysgrad, and also the Grand Septon of Andals," Viserys called out the Grand Septon's name.

Bishop Umber quickly knelt on the ground, awaiting the King's command.

Viserys had already prepared a seven-colored crystal crown for Bishop Umber, placing it on the Septon's head.

The King being above faith might be a great shock to faith in Westeros, but in Andals, it was not unreasonable, as Viserys was the embodiment of the Warrior.

"The supreme glory lies in serving Your Majesty and spreading the grace of the Seven Gods and Your Majesty throughout Andals," Bishop Umber shouted excitedly. With the King's success, his descendants would also secure golden rice bowls.

"Master Syrio, I enfeoff you as my Senior Advisor and Grand Steward of Viserysgrad." Viserys did not forget Syrio; whether he was a carefree wanderer or not, he would be tied down first.

Syrio smiled; at least he did not refuse the command.

"Ser Roland Lake, I appoint you as the Commander of the City Watch of Viserys Fort," Viserys called out Ser Roland's name. "Furthermore, in recognition of your loyalty and talent during perilous times of upheaval, I enfeoff Ser Roland as a Count. Once the state affairs are settled, land and a castle will be granted from the royal demesne."

Ser Roland knelt on the ground, his expression agitated. He was a loser in a lost war, who had not expected there to be a possibility of revenge.

"Donal Stone, for your unwavering loyalty and bravery, I enfeoff you as the Infantry Commander of the First Legion, the Old andals Legion. Additionally, I enfeoff you as the Count of Stone Town, permitting you to build a castle on the ancestral lands of the Stone Family."

Viserys's First Legion encompassed the entire Andals region and could also be called the Old Andals Royal Guard Legion.

"Legion?" Quilo pricked up his ears, listening. It seemed to be a new innovation Viserys was introducing.

It looked as though Viserys was prepared to expand Andals into a war machine, though it was unclear against whom it would be wielded.

"Thank Your Majesty for your grace. The supreme glory lies in serving Your Majesty," Count Donal bowed in thanks.

The Stone Family had brought manpower, weapons, and smiths to the cause, and they were not cunning conspirators.

Given such loyalty, Viserys would not be stingy with a countship.

"Argus Blackwood, I appoint you as the Commander of the First Legion's cavalry division, and simultaneously enfeoff you as a Knight!"

"Hugo Rex, I appoint you as the Commander of the First Legion's longbowman division, and simultaneously enfeoff you as a Knight!"

"Thank Your Majesty for your grace! I pledge my loyalty to His Majesty Viserys and his descendants, until death."

"Thank Your Majesty for your grace! I, too, will not forget this loyalty."

Viserys's sword blade pressed against the shoulders of the big man Argos and the master archer Hugo. This enfeoffment was complete.

From today onwards, Viserys was the King of Andals, and this war machine began to rumble.

Viserys had established the power framework of Andals, and now it was a matter of continuous improvement.

The ancient hymns resounded again, as if awakening the ancient King of the Hills, Hugo, to stand and watch.
