Chapter 91 - Inside the Mechanism Passage

Tang San gratefully glanced at the place where Aosqin stood. He could feel that Aosqin had been continuously creating opportunities, helping him integrate into the team.

But the most important matter right now was still to quickly complete the training mission, so Tang San had no intention of wasting time here giving thanks to Aosqin. He immediately entered the role of temporary leader.

The first thing was to arrange the order of members in the team.Considering that it was the first time for everyone to face attacks from mechanism-type soul tools, the students in the front of the team must naturally be quick to react, agile, and—most importantly—able to take a beating.

However, he also could not focus only on the threats from the front.Putting someone like Ning Rongrong—who was unqualified both in physical fitness and in hand-to-hand combat—directly at the very end of the team was also inappropriate.

After all, no one ever said that the direction of a mechanism's attack could only come from the front.Once the mechanism launched an attack from the rear, the situation would become quite complicated and dangerous.

In reality, when it came to this mechanism passage, Aosqin did feel somewhat guilty. In this current state where everyone was completely clueless about the mechanism passage, he also bore responsibility.

As the provider of the mechanism-type soul tool blueprints, how could Aosqin possibly have never experienced passing through a mechanism array composed of mechanism soul tools in the All-Knowing Library?

As for the power, operation methods, and layout features of mechanism-type soul tools, Aosqin was basically familiar with them.In theory, leading Shrek's group of students through the mechanism tunnel before them should not have been a problem at all.

But who told Aosqin to be stubborn? He insisted on taking several mechanical-type mechanism blueprints from Tang San and gave them to Flender and the others, letting them remodel the mechanism passage.

After being remodeled with mechanical-type devices, the mechanism passage was no longer within the range of Aosqin's knowledge or familiarity. He might even make judgment errors at crucial moments because of the preconceived impressions in his mind.In order not to drag the entire team into a trap, Aosqin could only choose to let Tang San take the lead.

After thorough consideration, Tang San arranged the team order as follows:Tang San, Dai Mubai, Ning Rongrong, Oscar, Zhu Zhuqing, Xiao Wu, Ma Hongjun, Aosqin.

Everyone maintained a cautious attitude and entered the mechanism passage with a one-meter gap between each person. At the beginning, they could still feel the sunlight shining in from the outside, but after just more than ten meters, everyone's visible distance rapidly shrank.

Moving another ten meters forward, everyone except Tang San had their visible range reduced to less than five meters. They finally stopped temporarily at a platform that was clearly wider and flatter than before.

Further ahead, most of the ground looked like bottomless abyss. The only path allowing passage was a metal narrow bridge extending from the center of the platform, only fifty centimeters wide.

Even though their vision range was limited, everyone could clearly see that on both sides of the metal narrow bridge were many huge metal fists that were obviously not decorative.

A little bit of thinking would make anyone realize that these metal fists must be part of the mechanisms meant to hinder them from crossing the metal narrow bridge. They just did not know the triggering method, nor whether there were other mechanism soul tools on the bridge.

Tang San fully activated his Purple Demon Eye, trying to find clues helpful for the upcoming advance, but the results were not encouraging.Even though his visible range far surpassed the others, he still could not observe any useful information.

Since nothing could be seen on the surface, they could only personally test it.Turning his head, Tang San said very seriously:

"My eyes have some special abilities, allowing my visible range to still remain above fifty meters. But fifty meters is not a fully safe distance.Right now we can still say we know nothing about this place,so everyone must concentrate your attention and react quickly once I give reminders. These metal fists definitely have frightening attack power and speed. The space on the bridge is extremely narrow—if you take a hit, you may fall off the bridge.I believe no one here wants that to happen.

"My suggestion is that everyone use tree vines to connect ourselves. This will prevent a situation where someone is knocked away by a fist or triggers another mechanism and falls off the bridge before others can rescue them."

Dai Mubai and the others looked at the pitifully narrow metal bridge and those ferocious metal giant fists, all nodding in agreement with Tang San's suggestion.

Before entering the tunnel, everyone had already considered this possibility. Each person prepared vines three meters long.Even tying everyone together would not affect mobility.

Tang San carefully stepped onto the narrow metal bridge first.Because they were still exploring, the speed of advancement was extremely slow.

Three minutes passed. At this moment, Ma Hongjun and Aosqin were still on the platform.Nothing had happened yet on the metal bridge, but everyone knew this was only the calm before the storm.

Inside the quiet and dim mechanism passage, the students' footsteps and the continuous "ka-ka" sound of mechanisms turning ever since Tang San stepped onto the bridge were equally clear.Combined with occasional flashes of soul power light cutting through the air, everything reminded them of the unknown danger ahead.

Just ten seconds after Xiao Wu stepped onto the metal bridge and right as Ma Hongjun was about to step on, Aosqin—whose hearing had been raised to its limits with active spiritual power—caught an unusual sound. He instinctively stopped Ma Hongjun from moving forward.

At the same time, Tang San at the very front noticeably paused.

The purple glow in his eyes became even more radiant. The Purple Demon Eye also detected traces of danger, though he still could not determine what kind of danger it was.He could only stop and be fully alert.

Behind him, Dai Mubai stopped immediately as well, not daring to make a sound for fear of interfering with Tang San's observation. He grabbed the vine tied to him and shook it vigorously a few times to tell the teammates behind him to stop.

The sounds in the passage instantly became clearer.Aosqin's brain quickly analyzed the sound he had captured.

"This is… water flow? How can there be water flow here? Not good!"

Realizing it, Aosqin shouted loudly to the teammates on the bridge:"Everyone immediately squat down and grab the bridge! Steady yourselves!"

Up ahead, Tang San finally saw clearly what was rushing toward them—a massive water pillar with white foam rolling on its surface.Even before it hit him, Tang San could already imagine the terrifying impact force it carried.

They had always been guarding against the metal fists on both sides, but unexpectedly, the first thing to come was the impact of a water pillar.

"It's water! Don't get washed off!"Tang San's warning was extremely fast, but the high-pressure water pillar was even faster.Almost the moment Tang San closed his mouth, the water pillar slammed into him.

Fortunately, Tang San was prepared to some extent.Though his body was pushed backward and slammed into Dai Mubai, he still did not fall off the bridge.

Dai Mubai behind him was struck by the water pillar almost at the same time as Tang San.But he had been fully on guard. After hearing Aosqin's reminder, he had already lowered his center of gravity, gripping the bridge surface firmly with his feet.

Although he endured both the impact of the water pillar and Tang San crashing into him, Dai Mubai still stabilized himself.

However, Ning Rongrong behind Dai Mubai was not so lucky. She did hear Aosqin's reminder, and her mind reacted—but her body simply could not keep up.
