Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 Is This a Joke?

"Why are you looking at me like that? This method can be easily accomplished even by an ordinary person."

Rosen spread his hands.

Sakurajima Mai, however, sighed.

Yotsuya Miko followed suit, then explained, "While it's not impossible, Sakurajima can currently only be seen by me and you, Rosen. And since I'm a girl, it seems only you can do it."

"I see, are you worried about a scandal?"

Rosen nodded.

"It seems I didn't consider the influence of a female celebrity."

Although Rosen said this in a joking tone, Sakurajima Mai detected a hint of sarcasm in his words.

She forced a bitter smile and said, "If it succeeds, I don't care about scandals, but won't it affect you?"

"As a powerful figure in the mysterious world, you probably don't want to expose your identity, do you?"

This wasn't Sakurajima Mai bragging.

If her presence reappeared, given that she had only retired two years ago, she would undoubtedly still have considerable popularity in the island nation.

Perhaps some enthusiastic paparazzi would even write a sensational piece titled, "Why Did Former Popular Celebrity Sakurajima Mai Suddenly Retire? The Reason Is!"

By then, her and his ordinary school life would be over.

"I don't mind, but it's indeed not very suitable for me to do something like that."

Although he wouldn't be particularly affected by a scandal, Rosen had a more direct and effective method compared to the original story's romantic plot.

He turned to look at the Bunny Girl in front of him.

A gentle smile hung on his face.

But in Sakurajima Mai's eyes, the handsome young man suddenly became as suspicious as a street vendor selling pirated discs.

"Young lady, would you like to make a contract with me?"

"A contract?"

Sakurajima Mai was stunned for a moment.

But she quickly remembered the conversation between Rosen and Yotsuya Miko.

Their conversation subtly mentioned "spirits" and "Hanako."

And the Light Lance in Yotsuya Miko's hand now didn't look like a cosplay prop conjured by magic.

"Are there spirits in this world?"

"Want to see? I can open your eyes for free."

The ability to see spirits isn't valuable in various ghost-themed works.

Taoist priests with a bit of knowledge of Taoist magic can open people's spiritual eyes.

This includes, but is not limited to, wiping eyes with willow leaves, dripping ox tears into eyes, and so on.

For Rosen, it was even simpler.

A flick of divine power on the girl's body was equivalent to opening her spiritual eyes.

Although it was temporary, it was enough for Sakurajima Mai to see another side of the world.

The girl initially felt nothing special.

"Do you see that black mass in the distance?"

Rosen thoughtfully pointed it out to Sakurajima Mai.

The girl looked in that direction, vaguely discerning a distorted humanoid shape beneath the black substance.

But… how could a person be so tall and slender?

Just as Sakurajima Mai was about to observe more closely, the black shadow suddenly turned around. After a very brief pause, it began to sprint wildly, flailing its limbs like a deformed giant.

Because of the distance, Sakurajima Mai still couldn't clearly hear the spirit muttering "You can see me" repeatedly.

Until the distance closed.

Sakurajima Mai felt her worldview shattered, and her delicate body retreated a few steps in fear, as if she were about to fall again as before.

However, this time, the person supporting her was Yotsuya Miko.

"It's okay, it's normal for the first time."

"I was like that too, but luckily I reacted quickly and pretended to rub my eyes, thus escaping disaster."

But Sakurajima Mai was in no mood to listen to the girl recount her past embarrassing moments.

Her heart was pounding out of her chest from fright.

"See? Actually, there are many things that can see you."

Looking at Rosen's smiling expression, Sakurajima Mai really wanted to say, "Is this the time for such jokes?"

However, because she was too scared to speak, she could only stand frozen in place like a supporting character in a horror movie.

The only difference was that she managed not to scream.

Rosen, seeing this, could tell that the "real" world had brought immense shock and fright to Sakurajima Mai, a girl living in the "main world."

He casually conjured a Light Lance and casually threw it, hitting the tall spirit directly in the forehead. The latter instantly turned into dust and dissipated upon contact.
