Chapter 95 - Chapter 97: It's Not Your Fault You're Ugly, Danzō

"So, if Senior Sakumo had really committed suicide, then Shimura Danzō would have truly gotten what he wanted."

Minato picked up the tea Hatake Sakumo had brewed and spoke while drinking.

"Thank you, Minato. If not for you, perhaps I would have done something that would pain my loved ones and gladden my enemies."

Finally, Hatake Sakumo spoke up.

"It's good that Senior Sakumo can think it through. It's just that after this disturbance by Shimura Danzō, you might not be able to become Hokage in the future."

Putting down the teacup, Minato teased.

"I never planned to be Hokage anyway, so this scheme of Shimura Danzō's was completely unnecessary."

Hatake Sakumo shrugged, speaking with indifference.

"Then Shimura Danzō really lost more than he gained. He didn't destroy you, but he offended you to the death. He really 'lost the lady and broke the army' (suffered a double loss)."

Minato laughed loudly; he loved seeing Shimura Danzō suffer a setback.

"Great kindness needs no thanks. If there is anywhere you need me in the future, just ask. I don't drink alcohol, so I'll substitute tea for wine."

Hatake Sakumo drained the tea in his cup in one gulp.

Seeing this, Minato also picked up his cup and drained it. Then, the two looked at each other and smiled.

That night, when Kakashi heard the rumors outside and ran to ask his father what was going on, Hatake Sakumo didn't explain. He would understand naturally when he grew up.

Without the death of the White Fang occurring, Kakashi probably wouldn't desperately graduate early, nor would he prioritize the mission above all else during every operation, directly causing the deaths of "extras" (teammates).

Those "extras" who were originally destined to be killed by Kakashi's choices should probably thank Minato. A jinx was avoided just like that.

Two weeks later, no matter how big the public opinion was, it had its time limit. The villagers lost interest in discussing the White Fang's affairs every day.

Because, to atone for his "crimes," the White Fang laid down the power in his hands and went to become a ninja teacher.

Specifically, the teacher for Kakashi's class.

In his words, he hadn't accompanied Kakashi seriously for the past five years, so for the next five years, he would do what a father should do and educate Kakashi into a capable person.

No one had expected this.

Except for Sarutobi Hiruzen, who secretly lamented that it was a pity for such a powerful combat asset to go teach, others felt it didn't matter.

Especially Shimura Danzō. His goal was achieved; he had finally driven away a stumbling block. Although it was unexpected that the White Fang didn't commit suicide, it didn't matter.

Regardless, next he would deal with Namikaze Minato. Once he ruined his reputation too, and then used the scandal to force the Third Hokage to step down, he could legitimately ascend to the position of Hokage.

In the Hokage's Office, Minato was flipping through mission scrolls. That's right, he was going to execute a mission. He was checking if there were any S-rank missions recently. S-rank missions usually had a chance of encountering Kage-level figures.

Defeating a Kage-level figure then would make his development points soar.

"Here it is. Found one." Suddenly, a commission scroll appeared in front of Minato, instantly making his eyes light up.

A rebellion was occurring in the Land of Iron. Mifune, who wanted to maintain permanent neutrality, and Sanzō, who wanted to join the war and seize resources, had a dispute.

It was originally a contest between three samurai factions. However, Mifune received news that Sanzō had secretly issued a mission to the Land of Lightning's Kumogakure to find helpers. So, Mifune had no choice but to issue a mission to Konoha as well.

After all, Konoha was the sole victor of the Second Shinobi World War.

The mission required three people. Perfect. He could take Mikoto and Kushina along, treating it like a trip.

"Hokage-ojisan, I'll take this mission."

He handed the mission scroll to Sarutobi Hiruzen for registration.

"It requires three people. Who are you looking for as your other two teammates?"

Sarutobi Hiruzen asked.

"No need to look, of course, it's..."

"Wait. Sarutobi, my Root will also take this mission."

Just as Minato was about to say Mikoto and Kushina's names, an uninvited guest arrived. It was the one-eyed King of Scapegoats, Shimura Danzō.

He heard in Root that Minato was taking a mission, so he came to see what it was and if there was a chance to set Minato up.

Upon arriving at the door, he discovered it was a mission involving internal strife in the Land of Iron. If he sent people to sabotage Minato, the mission failure would be blamed on Minato.

Konoha received a large amount of iron from the Land of Iron. If this mission caused a rift in relations with the Land of Iron, creating problems for Konoha's iron source, that would be interesting.

Then, by increasing propaganda, this Namikaze Minato would be ruined and would have no qualifications to compete with him for the Hokage position.

"I say, why is this old immortal with one foot in the grave involved in everything? Aren't you annoying? I'm disgusted. Can you have some shame? Don't come out and wander around blindly all day and night."

"It's not your fault you look ugly, but coming out to scare people is your mistake. It's bad enough you come out and scare the future flowers of Konoha, but even if you don't scare them, scaring the plants and grass isn't okay either."

"Konoha's environment has become worse than before because an ugly-as-hell guy like you wanders around blindly every day. Can't you have a little self-awareness as a human being?"

As soon as he saw Shimura Danzō, Minato knew the other party was looking for trouble and was definitely targeting him.

So, without waiting for the other party to continue, a stream of words rat-a-tat-tatted out of Minato's mouth, giving Shimura Danzō no chance to speak at all.

"You...!"

"You what? Go stay wherever it's cool. What are you doing standing here like a pestle? Seeing your ugly-as-hell face makes me want to vomit the meal I just ate."

"Impudent!" (Fangsi!)

"Impudent? I'm putting five, six, seven, eight, nine! Pui!"

Motherfcker, do you really think just because I don't usually show my temper, you can bully me? I'll roast this old bastard to death today. If he doesn't vomit three liters of blood from anger, I'm his grandson.*

Mhm, there's nothing wrong with that logic.

"Sarutobi! Are you going to let this slide?"

Shimura Danzō had no way to deal with the sharp-tongued Minato, so he could only look at Sarutobi.

"Huh? Was someone speaking just now?"

Sarutobi Hiruzen, who had his head lowered, looked up blankly, looking like he hadn't heard anything clearly. He was practically possessed by Kakashi.

"Sarutobi... Hmph! I don't care. I want the remaining two spots for this mission."

Shimura Danzō didn't want to argue anymore and directly announced domineeringly.

Hmph, hmph. Kid, keep being arrogant. Just wait until I pit you to death, then we'll see if you're still arrogant.
