Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Pirate King in Prison

"Pirate King"

A low voice sounded in Roger's dream.

"What is your regret?"

Roger bolted upright, his gaze fixing on a blurry figure. He couldn't make out the stranger's face, only that the voice belonged to someone in their twenties.

None of that mattered. For that question, Roger actually wanted to answer.

Roger grinned and said, "Regret? Haha… I suppose I do have a bit of a regret."

The blurred figure in the dream, Wayne, chuckled softly: "Care to tell me?"

The smile faded, and Roger let out a long sigh. "Ha… my wife is pregnant. At the moment she needs me most, as her husband, I cannot be by her side…"

Roger turned his head and looked at Wayne with burning eyes. "That is my regret."

"Then let's make a deal."

"I will get your wife to a safe place and guarantee her safety until your child is safely born."

"Haha, sounds good," Roger said, looking at Wayne with meaning. "So, what's the price?"

"After you die, give me your power."

Roger was slightly stunned. That didn't seem like much of a price to him, after all, his body would inevitably die. The incurable disease and the public execution scheduled in five days: either would take his life.

"Hahaha… a fine deal. But how do I hand you my power?"

No sooner had Roger finished speaking than a prompt sounded inside Wayne's head.

["Ding! Commission established with Gol D. Roger. Multiverse Commission System activated. Mission completed; generating commission task... issuing beginner gift pack."]

[Commission Order: The Pirate King's Last Wish]

[Commission requirement: Transfer Portgas D. Rouge, currently on Baterilla Island, to a safe location so their child can be born safely.]

[Commission rewards:

Roger's Power (current state). Requirement: Roger must be dead.

Roger's Conqueror's Haki (peak). Requirement: Roger's child is born, and both mother and child are safe.

Commission Points 5000. Usable in the system shop to buy items.]

Wayne closed his eyes and breathed out. 'Finally, the damned golden finger had activated.'

He could safely say there was no more unlucky transmigrant than himself.

Other people who transmigrated into the One Piece world usually became Marines, prodigy kids, or similar, yet he'd transmigrated into an Impel Down prisoner.

Worse, the original body suffered late-stage pulmonary tuberculosis. Even if he'd possessed the body, he was still waiting to die.

Luckily, he had the transmigrant's golden finger: the system granted him three opportunities to speak with others in dreams, complete a commission, and he could activate the system.

Unfortunately, from lack of experience, he'd already wasted one chance.

So to avoid failing again, he set his sights on Roger.

First, he knew something about Roger; though the Pirate King, Roger, must have regrets in life, which meant he had needs. Second, a terminally ill Roger had come to terms with death; people near death speak plainly. Roger should be persuadable.

Fortune smiled on Wayne.

"Open the beginner gift pack."

["Selecting rewards for the host... Congratulations, obtained: Rebirth Card 1; Designated-Location Teleport Card 1; Personal Storage Space 100 m³."]

[Rebirth Card]: Use to die immediately and be reborn; after rebirth, the weakest attribute raises one rank. PS: Not satisfied with your life? No problem, use this to restart anytime.

[Designated-Location Teleport Card]: Teleports to any location that exists in this world.

Seeing the Rebirth Card, Wayne cheered inwardly; the system really understood him. His body was at its limit: even if he gained Roger's power, he wouldn't live long. Rebirth was the best option.

But to maximize benefit, he should complete The Pirate King's Wish before using the Rebirth Card; his own attributes were too weak now to make the rebirth count.

[Devil Fruit]: None

[Special Ability]: Soul Dream Speech (can enter others' dreams and converse. Remaining uses: 1.)

[Overall Rating (F-)]: A pathetic weakling.

Wayne rolled his eyes at the system's evaluation. What could he do, having transmigrated into a terminal patient?

"You don't need to worry about that," Wayne said, rein-ing in his thoughts. "But I promise your wife and child won't be harmed because of you."

"Hahaha~ Then I can rest easy." For some reason, Roger trusted this faceless man.

Roger waved a big hand, and the silhouette of a woman appeared beside him, his wife, Portgas D. Rouge.

"This is my wife. I entrust her and my child to you."

Although he had previously entrusted his wife to Garp, Garp was a Marine and limited by his identity; some things remained inconvenient.

Since this man could enter his dream, he clearly had the ability to keep his wife and child safe.

"Relax... damn, I must go. The dream is collapsing."

Watching the man's form beginning to flicker, Roger smiled and said, "Is that so? Actually, I have one more regret..."

Impel Down, Beast Hell.

Wayne opened his eyes. Unexpectedly, before parting, Roger had given him another commission.

[Commission Order: Sea King Poseidon]

Commission requirement: Witness the awakening of the Sea King Poseidon.

Commission reward: "Haki: From Beginner to Mastery" and Commission Points 2000.

Staring at the empty cell, pale-faced Wayne couldn't help but murmur, "Roger is really a good man..."

However, that task was temporarily impossible; it would only be doable when Luffy's crew went to Fish-Man Island two years later.

For now, the most important matter was how to move Portgas D. Rouge to a place where she could safely give birth to Ace and avoid the exhaustion-and-death outcome from the original story.

After all, that reward included Roger's Conqueror's Haki. Who is Roger? The Pirate King, at his peak, how monstrous would his Conqueror's Haki be?

So the Designated-Location Teleport Card was indispensable: one, to escape Impel Down; two, to quickly reach Baterilla Island.

He'd thought about buying some sunflower seeds and watching Roger's execution, but clearly, there wasn't time, unless…

Wayne remembered one person: Roger's "true fan", Golden Lion Shiki.

If nothing went wrong, this guy was currently wreaking havoc at Marineford and would be defeated by Fleet Admiral Sengoku and Garp together, then sent to Impel Down.

Maybe Wayne could scheme a bit, and not rush to Baterilla Island.

After all, he still had one "Soul Dream Speech" left, couldn't waste it.

"Golden Lion Shiki, huh. Tsk, how should I trick him..."
