Chapter 14 - A Name Is an Important Thing

The brawl in Class D had a wide reach, engulfing almost half the classroom and involving about ten boys and two related girls,

However, most people managed to escape the classroom and were now standing in the hallway. Other classes quickly noticed the commotion.

Before long, the incident had captured the attention of the entire first year, and the hallway was teeming with students.

Hiyori Shiina, finally realizing something was wrong, stepped out of her classroom to check and found herself unknowingly surrounded by Class C students.

The crowd parted, and as the girl took a few steps forward, she quickly saw the half-demolished Class D classroom and a dozen or so injured students, some sitting, some lying down, with bleeding heads.

"Mr. Ghost, what should I do in this situation?" Seeing the bloody aftermath and the students crowding the entire hallway, Hiyori had no experience in handling such matters and could only ask inwardly.

"You probably can't handle an aftermath of this magnitude. I'll take over."

With that, Symon took control of the body.

At the same time, Arisu Sakayanagi approached with a cheerful smile, leaning on her cane, and said with a laugh, "Is this what a struggle among the lower dregs of society looks like? How unsightly. Don't you agree... Shiina-san?"

"Sakayanagi, perfect timing. Come over and help."

Symon didn't take the bait. He pulled her to his side with one arm, ignoring the stunned expressions from Sakayanagi and the Class A students. He spotted a brown-haired girl who seemed to be a leader for Class D in the crowd and asked in a gentle voice, "Excuse me, could you please come over? Have you sent someone to get a teacher?"

"Mei-Yu Wang has already gone to get the teachers."

Looking at "Hiyori Shiina" surrounded by Class C students, Kushida hesitated for a moment before stepping forward alone with a smile. "I'm Kikyō Kushida. Can I help you with something?"

Symon didn't answer immediately. He scanned the crowd, found Ichinose from Class B, and beckoned her over as well.

Having gathered the four class leaders Ryūen had mentioned before, Symon spoke concisely, "We have a problem. There are many injured students in the classroom, the situation is unclear, we urgently need to manage the crowd, and we need people to take the injured to the infirmary. Are you capable of organizing your own classes?"

"That's wonderful! What exactly do you need me to do, Shiina-san?" Ichinose's eyes lit up as she was the first to respond.

"Communicate with your classmates. Have them return to their classrooms to clear the path. For now, Class D will move to the hallway outside Class B's room. If you have the spare manpower, could you also organize a few strong boys willing to carry stretchers? Can you do that?" Symon asked gently.

"No problem, I understand." Ichinose clasped her hands together, a brilliant smile on her face, then turned back to her Class B classmates and gently relayed the request.

Sakayanagi remained silent, smiling as she looked towards Masayoshi Hashimoto and Kōhei Katsuragi nearby. Class A immediately began to disperse under their guidance, with the two of them staying behind.

Witnessing their formidable efficiency and influence, Kushida felt the gap between them. After a moment's hesitation, she mustered her courage, returned to her group, and began communicating with her classmates. The scene became chaotic, but fortunately, some students followed Class B's lead and left.

Seeing things were getting on track, Symon turned to the Class C students behind him and said with a smile, "All the girls, head back to the classroom. The boys will stay and clean up the scene. You can do that, right?"

His smile was gentle, but his words left no room for doubt. The Class C students were cooperative and showed no resistance; a couple of girls who had objections were pulled back into the classroom by others.

While Symon was busy managing the scene, on the other side—

In the faculty office, three of the first-year homeroom teachers were leisurely puffing away in the work area, ignoring the resentful glances from the Class B homeroom teacher, Chie Hoshinomiya.

"This year's freshmen are really something else," said Class A's homeroom teacher, Tomonari Mashima, breaking the silence.

"Indeed..." Class D's homeroom teacher, Sae Chabashira, blew a smoke ring. "This year's Class D has also exceeded my expectations."

Hoshinomiya leaned in with a grin. "Are your students good this year, Sae-chan? Our Ichinose is also outstanding, you know."

Tapping her old friend on the head, Chabashira gave a flat assessment: "No. They're just unbelievably bad."

Although she said that, Chabashira was still thinking about the few promising students in her class, like Hirata, Kushida, Kōenji, Ayanokōji, Horikita, and so on...

When you thought about it, Class D was practically a den of hidden dragons and crouching tigers.

Kazuma Sakagami pushed up his glasses and said calmly, "Class C is much the same. There are very few students with any initiative to learn."

Mashima stubbed out his cigarette and said pointedly, "And they love to stir up trouble. You must have a headache, Kazuma Sakagami."

"It's manageable. I'm reasonably satisfied with them."

Just as he said that, someone knocked on the office door. Mei-Yu Wang rushed in and, after explaining what had happened in Class D, the four homeroom teachers exchanged glances and rose to leave the office together.

A short while later, when the homeroom teachers came down from upstairs, this was the scene that greeted them in the hallway:

In the hallway, a crowd of students stood outside the Class B classroom, chattering away boisterously.

Outside the Class D classroom, Hiyori Shiina and Arisu Sakayanagi stood by the window, watching as Ichinose and Kushida led a group of boys. Using stretchers that had appeared from somewhere, they were steadily carrying several injured students downstairs, while others with minor injuries were being helped down the stairs.

"How should I address you, other Shiina-san?" Arisu Sakayanagi asked with a smile.

Given Symon's semi-inviting, semi-forceful way of speaking and his problem-solving-oriented attitude, Sakayanagi was quite certain that the Hiyori she was encountering was the same personality from their first meeting.

Symon was unconcerned. "Call me Shiina..."

Just then, Hiyori snatched back control of the body and added softly, "Symon."

Not noticing the instantaneous personality switch, Sakayanagi asked curiously, "Shiina Symon? That doesn't sound like a girl's name. Is it an opposite-gender personality?"

Feeling her body being instantly relinquished by the other soul without any lag, Hiyori nodded with a smile and replied gently, "That's right."

"This tone... It's you, isn't it, Hiyori-chan?"

"Yes."

The girl replied absently, her mind more focused on placating the other soul within her body:

"Tossing me aside right after using me... Hiyori, that's just cruel," Symon complained in her mind.

"I'm very sorry, but..."

Hiyori thought gently, "A name is a very important thing. How could you just cast it aside so easily, Mr. Ghost?"

"I think I only said it once. Besides, that's no reason for you to interrupt my conversation with the frail, white-haired loli..."

"Ara, so you've found me out~"

A hint of amusement flashed in the girl's purple eyes.

In that moment, Symon couldn't figure out if, when Hiyori said he'd "found her out," she was referring to the name, to Sakayanagi, or both.
