Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: My Life Fell Apart, but the World Turned Into a Joke (Part 2)

"Why Do They All Have Complicated Names, and I'm Just Rian?"

Rian woke up with a heavy head, as if he'd been hit by a truck…

Wait—he had been hit by a truck.

He blinked several times, staring at a bright blue sky too beautiful to be real.

"Hmm… where am I? This isn't my rented room. There's no smell of fried rice."

He sat up. All around him stretched a vast valley blanketed by white mist.

The air was pure, birds with glowing feathers flew overhead, and far away, waterfalls shimmered like crystal.

> "Okay… this isn't Earth.

Unless some travel agency decided to promote heaven's backyard."

A calm but cold voice came from behind him.

> "You're finally awake, my new disciple."

Rian turned around — and instantly forgot how to breathe.

Standing there was a young woman in white robes, her long black hair flowing like silk, eyes clear as moonlight.

Her beauty was the kind that made men question whether they'd sinned enough to deserve seeing it.

"Uh… hello, Goddess?"

> "I'm not a goddess," she replied flatly. "I'm your teacher. My name is Zhu Lingyao."

"My… teacher?"

> "You were unconscious at the base of the mountain. I brought you to the Sky Bamboo Sect.

From today onward, you're one of our lowest disciples."

Rian looked around — ancient buildings stood on floating islands, surrounded by gigantic bamboo trees that pierced the clouds.

> "Whoa… this looks like one of those Chinese fantasy dramas but in 4K resolution."

Zhu Lingyao frowned. "Drama? Four-K? What language is that?"

"Ah—uh, slip of the tongue! I meant... I'm from a very, very low realm."

She gave him a puzzled glance, then simply nodded.

> "Very well. Prepare yourself. The cultivation world is not a playground.

One wrong move, and your soul may scatter forever."

Rian nodded solemnly.

> "Got it, Teacher. But can I ask one question first?"

> "What is it?"

> "How come your clothes are still spotless after saving me from the mud?

I trip once and look like a donut dropped in sand."

Zhu Lingyao's sharp gaze could probably kill a cow.

> "You're… strange."

"Yeah, people say that a lot. Even the truck that hit me—uh, I mean, the goat that once rammed me."

She sighed deeply, closing her eyes for a moment.

> "Enough. Follow me to the main hall. You'll receive your initiation mark."

---

Inside the grand hall, hundreds of disciples sat cross-legged in silence.

The atmosphere was solemn, filled with spiritual energy.

That is—until Rian walked in.

Whispers immediately broke out.

> "Is that the one Elder Zhu brought in?"

"His name is Rian? Sounds like a kitchen servant."

"Why does he look so... ordinary?"

Rian waved cheerfully. "Yo! Peace and cultivation, my fellow spiritual beings!"

Silence.

Zhu Lingyao's expression said it all: she regretted everything.

> "Yes," she admitted through gritted teeth. "He is… my disciple.

He's… different."

Rian grinned. "I like the word different. It usually means weird but interesting."

---

Days passed.

Rian began his basic cultivation training, sitting under the bamboo grove every morning.

But no matter how hard he tried, nothing worked.

Until—

> Ding!

> [Overpower Absurd System v1.0 Activated]

[Welcome back, Host Rian.]

[Because you failed basic cultivation, compensation granted: Chaos Energy Lv.1.]

Rian froze. "Whoa! You again, mysterious voice!"

> [Please show respect to the system.]

[New Mission: Make at least one disciple regret underestimating you.]

[Reward: Chaotic Breathing Technique of a Thousand Paths.]

Rian frowned. "That name sounds... suspiciously unsafe."

Still, he followed the instructions.

The moment he began to meditate, the bamboo grove started to shake violently.

Spiritual energy exploded in every direction — several disciples were thrown off their seats, screaming in confusion.

Zhu Lingyao appeared instantly, her usually calm face pale.

> "Rian! What are you doing?!"

Rian slowly opened his eyes.

A purple aura of chaos swirled around his body, his hair fluttering dramatically in the wind.

If he had said something cool, the moment would've been legendary.

Instead—

> "Hehe… no idea, Teacher. But I think I just unlocked easy mode in life."

---

Zhu Lingyao stared at him for a long, painful moment.

> "You truly are... not an ordinary human."

Rian raised an eyebrow.

> "Please, Teacher, don't say that. The others might think I'm an alien or something."

High above the sect, a cloaked figure watched from the clouds.

A low, chilling voice echoed through the wind—

> "That energy… it shouldn't exist in the mortal realm…"
