Ruby's POV
The rooftop collapsed with a thunderous crash that split the air like lightning. Chunks of concrete and twisted metal plummeted around us in a deadly rain. My scream tore from my throat just as the black wolf's powerful tail swept me toward the relative safety of the corner.
Dust and smoke consumed everything. The world disappeared into chaos. All that remained were the sounds of destruction - stones thundering down, men's panicked shouts, and the wolf's savage growling cutting through it all.
When the rumbling finally ceased and the choking dust began to settle, the horrific scene came into focus.
A crimson pool spread across the floor. Leon lay crumpled in the center of it, his agonized groans echoing off the walls. His arm jutted out at an unnatural angle, bone clearly shattered.
Then I saw Stanley.
He had Kate locked in a vicious chokehold, her body pressed against his like armor. The cold metal of his gun kissed her temple.
