Ruby's POV
She actually claimed Elias was her boyfriend?
I stared at her in disbelief before bursting into laughter.
"What are you cackling about?" she snapped, her face flushing with anger.
"If you'd said you were his one-night stand, maybe I would have bought it. But girlfriend? Not a chance." I shrugged casually.
"You're just bitter," she shot back.
"No, just realistic. Alpha Elias doesn't date anyone."
She moved closer, getting in my face. "Shows how little you know. He treated me like a queen. Brought me presents from every business trip. Always came running when I called for help. Told me I could count on him for anything."
"Yeah, he does that for every woman he sleeps with," I replied matter-of-factly. Myself included.
"You don't understand!" Her voice cracked with frustration. "He met my parents over dinner. He sends my mother flowers every year on her birthday!"
My eyebrows shot up.
Well, that was different.
