Ruby's POV
"No!" The word tore from my throat before I could stop it.
My pulse hammered against my eardrums. This couldn't be happening. Michael might be heartless, but surely he wouldn't actually let a patient die. Even someone as twisted as him had to have some limits. He had to.
I locked my hands into fists and met his stare head-on, my lungs burning as I held my breath. Michael watched me with that same infuriating calm, that smug satisfaction dancing in his eyes like he was feeding off my terror.
After what felt like an eternity, he let out a low laugh.
"There's no need for bloodshed, Bonnie. When a patient becomes uncooperative, we simply withdraw our services."
Savannah's scream pierced the air.
My stomach plummeted.
No treatment meant certain death. Michael might as well have signed her execution papers.
