It has been one year since I arrived in this world called Helven.
The Leaven family has a rather... strange custom. From the moment a child turns one, they begin receiving what they call world knowledge.
World knowledge, they said. Poop-level nonsense, I thought.
I mean, who in their right mind tries to cram the world's secrets into the brain of a one-year-old? My brain's barely the size of an adult man's wrist!
Still, the knowledge kept coming.… a flood of history, geography, and structure. I learned that Helven is divided into two great continents. The one we live on is called Remul.
On Remul, there are four major powerhouses, apart from our own family. Each has its own unique ranking system, marked by patterns that appear on the body which is a symbol of power and legacy.
The House of Lamian bears the mark of the Lion.
The House of Hilver carries the Dragon.
The House of Jamal bears the Tiger.
The House of Promin holds the Phoenix.
These patterns always appear on the hands of the heirs, glowing during their awakening ceremony, a sign of the power they are destined to wield.
And then there's us, the Leaven House, the forgotten fifth, the hidden bloodline. Our family's symbol is the Devourer Wolf.
Every member of my family bears that mark on their hand. And soon, it was my turn.
You see, Leaven children awaken at the age of two which is much earlier than others, who awaken at ten.
Yeah, no pressure. Everything will go fine…I hope so
The day of my awakening finally arrived. My parents, Visha Leaven and Cindra Leaven carried me to the sacred altar, an enormous and magnificent structure that shimmered under the palace light. Every family member bowed as we entered. Even at such a young age, my parents commanded immense respect.
As I was placed upon the altar, the air trembled. A blinding light erupted, illuminating the entire palace.
And then…
What the heck is this?!
This…this isn't the Devourer Wolf!
And why the hell is my mark on my stomach instead of my hand?!
The light grew fiercer. My mother gasped. My father's eyes widened in shock.
Something was happening… something no one in Helven had ever seen before.
