Chapter 9 - chapter 9–The girl they chose

Aira's wrists burned against metal cuffs as she was shoved into a blindingly white interrogation room.

Cameras stared down like unblinking eyes.

The Director circled her slowly.

"You think you ruined us by taking a file?"

His voice was silk wrapped around knives.

"You were selected long before that."

Aira's pulse hammered.

"What do you mean selected?"

The Director tapped a tablet, and a hologram flickered between them —

Aira Malik, with childhood photos, hospital records, address…

and then—

Brother's medical profile.

Her stomach dropped.

"So this has something to do with my brother?" she whispered, terrified.

"Oh yes," he smiled.

"Surgery costs money. Desperation makes people obedient."

Aira's blood ran cold.

"We pick girls like you," he continued.

"Poor. Brave. Responsible. The ones who love too fiercely… and have everything to lose."

Aira's nails dug into her palms.

"You don't know love," she hissed.

The Director leaned close, breaths cold.

"But we know you. Better than you know yourself."

Something inside Aira cracked.

Not fear.

Hatred.

Purpose.

A fire.

"You'll pay for what you've done," she whispered.

"And I will be the one to destroy you."

The Director only smirked — as if he had heard that a thousand times.

"We'll see."

---

Akil wakeup to war

Pain ripped through Akil's skull as he woke on a hospital bed — a thin blanket, oxygen monitors, and flashing red memories.

Aira being dragged away.

Her scream.

Her confession.

> "I can't lose you."

He ripped the IV from his arm and stood — wobbling but determined.

A police officer near the door rushed forward.

"Sir, you need to rest—"

"No," Akil snapped, fire blazing in his eyes.

"I need to report a kidnapping. And a criminal organization."

The officer frowned. "LeGaled Corporation?"

Akil froze.

"How do you—?"

The officer looked around and lowered his voice.

"You're not the first one who tried to expose them. We know something's wrong… but they're protected by people above us."

Then he slipped a card into Akil's hand.

> "Go here. Don't trust uniforms."

Akil stared at the address — a private investigation unit.

Someone was finally willing to help.

And Aira was waiting.

He pocketed the card and rushed out — determination stronger than pain.

---

A traitor in the system

Back at LeGaled, Aira was marched through a hallway when a woman in a lab coat stepped forward.

"Transfer her to Holding Bay C," the woman instructed.

The guard hesitated. "But Director ordered—"

"I'll take responsibility," she said sharply.

The guard obeyed.

The moment they were alone, the woman pulled Aira aside — urgency in her stare.

"Listen to me carefully," she whispered.

Aira stiffened. "Who are you?"

The woman removed her glasses — eyes trembling with guilt.

"My name is Dr. Haniya. I helped design Room 107. I thought… I thought we were aiding psychology research. But they are using us. Using women."

Aira's eyes widened.

Dr. Haniya pressed a small access card into her cuffed hands.

"This unlocks the south exit. There will be only one shot to escape."

Aira stared — confused yet hopeful.

"Why should I trust you?"

Haniya's throat tightened.

"Because I couldn't save the others."

Her voice cracked with regret.

"But maybe… I can save you."

Before Aira could answer, Haniya pushed her toward the corridor.

"Go. Before he notices."

Aira hid the card in her sleeve.

For the first time since being dragged inside—

She had a chance.

And she wasn't alone anymore.

---

Path of collision

Akil reached the covert address — a hidden investigation team already studying LeGaled.

The lead investigator showed him a board covered in connections, photos, red markers.

"You have no idea how deep this goes," he said.

"Trafficking. Organ harvesting. Elite involvement."

Akil's fists clenched until they shook.

"Aira is inside, and she got solid evidence that can be their downfall" he growled.

The investigator nodded — determination meeting his.

"Then we're getting her out."

Akil's heart pounded.

For the first time — he wasn't powerless.

And Aira wasn't a stranger anymore.

She was someone he needed to protect.

Someone who mattered.

---

Two hearts.one war

Aira slid the access card toward the lock — heartbeat racing like thunder.

If this worked… If she escaped… If she reached Akil…

They could expose everything.

The lights flickered green.

Unlocked.

She exhaled a shaky breath and whispered:

"Hold on, Akil…"

On the other side of the city—

Akil grabbed a bulletproof vest and whispered back as if she could hear:

"I'm coming for you."

Tonight…

The hunter becomes the hunted.

And the war for truth has just begun.
